But man, being a small business is tough! It requires many hats to be worn besides maker -

Sometimes they fit, sometimes you have to make them fit until you can pay professionals for help!
So here I am wearing a couple of hats that are pretty uncomfortable for me (model & photographer 🙈) This part has been holding me back, but it’s time to let go of expectation & embrace the process.🌈✨
Swipe for a little sneak peek of what’s coming!!

Heel, arch ball, toe. Heel arch ball toe.
One foot in from of the other
Forward motion
Pushing onward
Can you feel it?
Your deep connection
To the Earth, To your center
Press into your feet,
Feel your connection to the Earth
The support that is offered with each step
Holding you up
From the ground up
Always reaching, striving
Find time for pause
To feel your feet
And move from connection
Every day, on top of the world,
Spinning, spinning, spinning.
Pause & Feel
Breathe,
Sit,
Be.

I know that this isn’t the first time you have heard someone say that this last year has been hard. Hard in ways we never imagined possible. The pandemic has challenged so many of our basic primal needs - safety & security at home, livelihood, and bodily health and vitality to name a few.
When lockdown began it was easy for me to fall into a cocoon of practice. My schedule revolved around daily asana, meditation and breathwork. At that point I was still teaching online yoga classes and the desire to show up in a grounded way for my students fueled me. Exercise and getting out into nature were prioritized. Every day consisted of nourishing, whole foods cooked with love from scratch.
And then the decision came to move away from the Hudson Valley. Since so much of our lives had already been uprooted, it made sense to rebuild those roots in the place of our dreams. When packing up and moving became my focus, those practices that ground me fell by the wayside.
This undoing took time. It was sneaky and insidious. Without a regular routine it was easy to leave practice out. Easy to ignore the tools I KNOW I need to manage my anxiety. Easy to find ANYTHING else to do to keep me from feeling, from really being with the pain and grief of all that had been lost. Eventually it led me to a place of poor health I haven’t known in years. (more on that another time)
I turned my full attention to getting to Colorado. Plotting our route, packing, and planning every aspect of our month long adventure visiting friends and family became my sole obsession. It kept me busy enough (read: distracted enough) to carry on putting one foot in front of the other.
Now I am slowly coming back to myself, coming back to practice. We are settled, we are safe, we have enough. In those ways we are so blessed, and I am so grateful. So much is still uncertain, and I am learning to be ok with that. I am constantly reminding myself to take it breath by breath, day by day.

Yesterday I started a seven week journey through the chakras with a group of fellow seekers facilitated by the one and only Joelle Vansickle yoga. Her carefully crafted practice helped me to really tune into my body, something I have been avoiding for sometime now.
We started our journey at the beginning, the root. We focused on building a strong foundation, on rooting down and building a relationship with the Earth. As we finished our practice, a little voice whispered to me “go to the mountains”. I envisioned myself sprawled out on the bare Earth soaking in her grounding energy, completely enveloped in Mama Earth’s embrace.
So to the mountains we went to explore and be in relationship with this new landscape.
I begin this journey with the intention to connect to and nurture the deepest parts of myself.

It’s been hanging on the wall in my studio staring at me all week, asking for some love

First photo is all the work I did on it back then, second is where it’s at now. Still need to do some fine tuning, but love the direction it’s taking!

Today’s reminder: Be gentle with yourself.
In times of stress when my nervous system is fried, it is easy for me to kick it into over drive, staying busy so I don’t have to acknowledge what I’m really feeling.
That was yesterday. Taking care of everything in the to do list, taking care of everything but MYSELF.
Today was different. I slept in, I let myself cry, and I did A LOT of reading and snuggling with my little fuzz ball.
Tomorrow I go live again, for my favorite class of the week
Gentle Yoga at 9:30 am
