Transforming the Audience Experience at the Zeiterion

As part of a transformative renovation, the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford will feature a more accessible auditorium. Upgrades such as re-raking the orchestra floor and optimizing seating layouts will enhance sightlines, safety, and accessibility. Plus, we're adding 80 seats while improving flow and ensuring equitable ADA access!

Wilson Butler Architects is delighted to be included in Auditoria's 2026 Annual Showcase!

It's a testament to our creative team that our work on Icon of the Seas, from the Aquadome to the Royal Theater and Absolute Zero, is featured in this publication that celebrates the cutting edge in entertainment venue design.

Royal Caribbean Group and their Entertainment Team have been redefining 'what's possible' for performance spaces at sea. Where WBA once leveraged our land based performing arts projects for inspiration for our first Royal Caribbean theater on Voyager of the Seas in 1999; we now look to the technical innovation, spatial efficiency, and creative problem solving accomplished on Icon to inform our land-based work. It's a space where experimentation and a willingness to invest in new technology (e.g. robotic stage crew) fuels progress.

Thank you to Izzy Kington for shining a light on WBA's design that brings people together, sparks imagination, celebrates the artists and audiences, while creating lasting memories for everyone onboard.
