Dear NATS Boston Members,

It’s my great pleasure to invite you to an exciting fall kickoff event on September 13th at Somerville Music Spaces: the NATS Boston Mentorship Program Culminating Event & Chapter Community Social Dinner. As the final event of our inaugural Mentorship Program (https://www.natsboston.org/nats-boston-mentorship-program.html), this “Day of Learning” will feature classes taught by our three mentor teachers: Clare McLeod, Dan Callaway, and Ian Howell. Their dynamic sessions will include masterclass, mentored teaching, group discussion, and guided functional listening elements. The event will end with a catered dinner. You can view the full schedule breakdown for the day on the attached flyer. 

All NATS Boston members are invited to attend any and all parts of the day as you are able - attendance for the classes is not required to attend the chapter dinner. We in chapter leadership are excited for all the year has in store for our NATS Boston community. Whether you’re new to NATS or a chapter veteran, this

It’s almost time to open the books back up!! 📚
This fall, NATS Boston will dive into Hearing Singing: A Guide to Functional Listening and Voice Perception by Dr. Ian Howell. We are thrilled to invite you to join our NATS Boston Book Club and read along!

The book club will be facilitated by Kayla Gautereaux, voice scientist, educator, and singing voice acoustics genius who has previously served on the NATS Boston Governance board and currently leads the Vocal Pedagogy program at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Meetings will take place via Zoom on September 6, September 20, and October 4 at 10:00 - 11:30am.

The book club will culminate in a very exciting in-person event with a special guest on Thursday, October 16 - mark your calendars now and stay tuned for a full announcement coming soon!

Hi Everyone! I want to pass along something I thought some of your students might be into: Bloch Performing Arts (BPA) is offering a class called Music Lab: Your Music, Your Way this summer! It’s a chill, creative space for students of all ages to learn how to make their own music electronically. No need to read music or have experience, just curiosity and a laptop! The class runs Thursday evenings from July 24th - Aug 28th, either in-person at Somerville Music Spaces, or online via Zoom. You’ll need a computer and a MIDI keyboard (BPA can loan you one if you don’t have it, but will need to let them know before July 20th). Jessica Arielle Bloch Soprano | Bloch Voice Studio | Boston, MA, USA Bloch Performing Arts by Jessica Arielle Bloch offers voice lessons for students of all ages in the Greater Boston Area as well as professional performances and productions.

Bloch Performing Arts has a new class course called Music Lab: Your Music, Your Way! It’s a series of fun song-writing classes!

The course is about exploring creating your own music electronically and is suitable for all levels of music reading fluency! There will be options for in-person and online participation, and there is some technology involved as well. For example, two important materials are a computer and a midi keyboard (BPA can loan some of the materials requested before July 20th, or you’re welcome to make it a personal purchase).

The schedule for the classes are Thursdays between July 24th - Aug 28th at 6:30pm - 8pm at Somerville Music Spaces (or online and we’ll Zoom you in!). Here is the link to register through our scheduling app for those interested in taking class this summer: REGISTRATION LINK, summer

ANNOUNCING: our fabulous singers for this Friday’s event, The Singer’s Playground: Exploring Artistry, Technique, and Identity with Jamon Maple! We are so excited for these singers to have the chance to work with Jamon!

Shin Kim was born and raised in South Korea and is now pursuing his undergraduate degree in Musical Theater at Boston Conservatory. He is excited to learn from Jamon’s expertise on the differences in vowels and style when singing Korean and English.
