🎶 Last night in Boston, I saw the Joscho Stephan Trio—and it was unforgettable.
Watching them perform, I was struck by how much happens beneath the surface: discipline, preparation, instinct, and the confidence to improvise in the moment. Each musician had their own voice, but together they created something seamless.
It reminded me a lot of the college application journey.
Strong applications aren’t just about checking boxes or having the “right” activities. They’re about bringing everything together—academics, experiences, interests, voice—in a way that feels cohesive and authentic.
There’s structure… but also room for individuality.
Preparation… but also trust in your own story.
That balance is where students truly stand out. ✨
Always inspired by moments like this—both in music and in the work I do with students.

🎉✨ A couple weeks ago, I shared that my student Christopher was preparing for a highly competitive Science Fellowship interview. I’m so excited to share the outcome…
He was selected as a Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellow at the University of Mary Washington 🔬🎓
Even more exciting — this wasn’t his only success:
📚 He also earned a History Scholarship from Gettysburg College, supported by the essay I coached him through. I couldn’t be more proud!
If your student is preparing for competitive interviews, fellowships, or scholarship essays, I’d be happy to help guide them through the process. 💬

🎓✨ A Big Step Forward This Weekend!
On Saturday morning, one of my students interviewed for a highly competitive Science Fellowship 🔬 after being selected as a finalist from an initial pool of 60 applicants. Only 15 students will ultimately receive the award.
In preparation for the interview, we refined his research ideas in positive psychology, brain science, and neuroplasticity — ensuring he could clearly articulate not just what he wants to study, but how he would design the research, analyze data 📊, and fully leverage faculty mentorship.
Selective interviews like this aren’t about generic answers. They’re about intellectual depth, precision, and demonstrating readiness to think like a scholar 💡.
I’m incredibly proud of the preparation, focus, and intellectual growth he demonstrated throughout this process. Regardless of the outcome, he represented himself with maturity and clarity.
If your student needs support preparing for an admissions, alumni, or scholarship interview, please reach out — I’d be happy to help.

🎓 Competitive Summer Program Application 🎥
Last week I worked with a motivated student applying to a highly competitive summer program — and we focused on transforming a solid application into a standout submission.
For her 3-minute video, we strengthened the hook, sharpened her authentic voice, and incorporated intentional 🎬 visual storytelling to make it dynamic and memorable.
For her written essay (300–500 words), we deepened the reflection and clarified how her experiences connect to her long-term 🩺 medical aspirations.
Because selective programs don’t just want accomplishments — they want clarity, authenticity, and purpose.
If your student is applying to competitive summer or pre-med programs and wants to elevate their essays or video submissions, I’d love to help. 💬
