๐Ÿš€The Paul English Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute would like to invite students and personnel to participate in our many events for the month of October! Here are all of our upcoming event details:

๐ŸชชOur latest Micro-Credential course, titled: "AI Innovators Pathway"! In order to be eligible for our latest Micro-Credential, you must participate in our AI Contest and our Hackathon during the month of October, which culminates in our Symposium on October 31st! You can register for our Micro-Credential course via the QR code in this flier. Remember, the PEAAII heavily encourages students with non-technical majors to participate as well! Details on the AI Contest, Hackathon and Symposium are below.๐Ÿชช

๐Ÿค–This year's AI Contest is set-up similar to our last year's, except now tied into our latest Micro-Credential course! For our contest: choose a real-world problem that you care about, explain the problem clearly and share why it matters to you and your community. Then, select an AI tool, and brainstorm with this tool how to solve this problem. Finally, you will reflect on the solutions that you and the AI tool were able to conjure. Students who participate in this contest can win a $100 award for their submission if they follow our submission requirements and participate in a peer-review process. You can participate in our AI Contest and learn more about the peer-review process needed by registering for our Canvas Micro-Credential course. AI Contest individual submissions are due on October 22nd, and the peer-review process is expected to be done by the time of the course close, which will be November 16th. Please note that while you need to register for the Micro-Credential course to participate in our AI contest, registering in the course does NOT also require you to participate in the Hackathon or Symposium. You may choose to participate in EITHER the AI Contest, the Hackathon, or both if you wish to acquire or latest Micro-Credential.๐Ÿค–

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ปOur AI Applications Hackathon also returns this year! Submissions for this year's Hackathon are also done through our Micro-Credential course, which you can register for via the QR code in the flier. You can form groups with other students and work together to try to develop a piece of software that performs a specific function or task! Top Hackathon teams will have a chance to present their work at our Symposium on October 31st! For participating teams, there will be a project feedback session on October 17th from the Provost and Paul English himself! Final submission for AI Applications Hackathon projects will most likely be October 28th at 11:59 PM, and will be done through our Canvas Micro-Credential course. Please note that while you need to register for the Micro-Credential course to participate in our Hackathon, registering in the course does NOT also require you to participate in the AI Contest or Symposium. You may choose to participate in EITHER the AI Contest, the Hackathon, or both if you wish to acquire or latest Micro-Credential.๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป

๐Ÿ“šThroughout the month of October, we will also have ongoing workshops to assist in the development of students' Hackathon projects! You can attend our weekly talks every Thursday, with the remaining dates being October 16th, October 23rd and October 30th! You can join the workshops via the Zoom ID in the flier. These workshops are not required for participation in our AI Contest or Hackathon, and are meant to simply help students in their working process.๐Ÿ“š

โญ๏ธFinally, all of these events will culminate in our October 31st Symposium from 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM! Stay tuned for how the events of the Symposium will unfold, but top Hackathon teams may be chosen to present their work at our Symposium to be judged and potentially win prizes!โญ๏ธ

We hope everyone will get involved in these events in some way, and learn more about AI in the process!
