🧬 PCOS has a new name, and the clinical implications matter.
🔬 After 14 years of research and 22,000+ survey responses, Polycystic O***y Syndrome is now officially Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS).
🩺 The previous nomenclature was misleading. Polycystic ovarian morphology is neither universally present nor diagnostically definitive. PMOS better reflects the underlying pathophysiology: a complex polyendocrine and metabolic disorder affecting 1 in 8 women worldwide.
💊 This is not solely a reproductive condition. PMOS presents across metabolic, neuropsychiatric, and dermatologic systems. Decades of diagnostic delay can be traced, in part, to a name that narrowed clinical focus.
👩⚕️For clinicians, this is a call to reassess screening criteria and close the gap on a condition that has long been underdiagnosed.

This spring, our employee-led Sustainability Committee organized a clothing drive with Second Chances, Inc. — a Somerville nonprofit bringing free clothing, confidence, and dignity to people experiencing poverty and housing instability across Greater Boston. 💙
This drive reflects the collective heart of our Pri-Med team, who were eager to give back right here in our own backyard.

👩💼 Women make up a huge portion of our workforce, our families, and our communities. And yet, research shows that most women put their own health last.
This May, we're taking a moment to change that narrative. Women's Health Month is a reminder that caring for yourself isn't selfish — it's essential. 💪🌸
To every woman in our community: your well-being matters. We see you. We support you. 🩷
👉 Pri-Med offers free Women's Health CME/CE courses, because knowledge is one of the best things you can do for your health and the health of your patients
