"We don't rise to the level of our expectations; we fall to the level of our training." — Archilochus

What you e been trained to do is not all you’re capable of. In fact, it’s just a fraction.

If you give yourself a chance, if you open yourself to the possibilities, the results can be astounding.

Who here believes in the power of coaching?

LEADership Tip:
The best leaders don’t always have answers—
They ask better questions.

Simon Sinek said it best:
“Leadership is asking others to answer their own questions.”

Try this today:
Instead of giving advice, ask:
“What do you think might work?”

It’s a small shift that builds trust and leadership.

Subconsciously, some people feel like listening means they are agreeing. But it’s quite the opposite. Listen two times as much as you speak (you have two ears and one mouth). You’ll start building repoire with people, you’ll find out things you had no idea about, you’ll understand why, and when you get to speak, they will listen to you back.

How are you giving an impression of increase to someone in your life every day?

Today, I noticed my scrub tech’s positive energy. Well, I noticed it before but now I noticed it every time I see her.

She’s peppy and so positive-minded. She speaks with such fervor and care for our patients and our staff.

I simply said “I really like your energy. You bring us all up every day.”

The smile on her face and and glow in her eyes showed me she really appreciated that feedback.

I felt good that she felt good.

When we take the time to recognize people in our lives when we see and feel something so special instead of noticing and not saying anything, not only do they feel appreciated and recognized but also you feel the positive effects of their reaction.

Who will you recognize today?

When people in leadership ask me about coaching, they often think that it’s needed for people who need to be undergo performance evaluations.

Where did this misconception come from? I used to think that too.

Coaching can be for anyone who is willing to invite an accountability partner to help them uncover not only limiting beliefs that might be holding him or her back but also growth opportunities and big dreams that have been collecting dust.

What have been your assumptions about getting coached?

Even coaches get coached. Did you know that Oprah Winfrey admitted to having four coaches at once not too long ago? And you wonder how successful she got?

Be curious and open minded about coaching. This could be so valuable to your life.🙂

“Expecting Setbacks as Insights”

Fulfilling your dreams is in
proportion to your courage.

You will face a lot of challenges that
seem overwhelming.

But when you fall, never fail to rise up again.

The first time may feel impossible.

The second time will be hard but almost doable.

The third and each subsequent one will become easier and almost routine.

Let go and let them become expected insights into the fulfillment of your dream goal.

That’s what we call “falling forward.”

Albert Einstein says he didn’t fail 10,000 times inventing the light bulb; he just found 10,000 insights into how to make one.

Whatever your dream, here is my advice to you:

1. Be brave
2. Fall forward
3. Stay the course

A Doctor's Guide to Leadership | Elsie Koh | TEDxBrownU 07/04/2022

Anyone can make things happen beyond what they think they can do.

Anyone can change their trajectory in life.

However, most people don’t think they can, and they, themselves, become their biggest obstacles.

We all fall into circumstances that we don’t like.

However, you can choose to move on, or you can choose to stay in that stagnant mindset.

This talk is for everyone even though I am a leadership coach for physicians.

Please share with someone who may need a boost.

And just start by being curious and then take action and find help. You can do it.
