Meet Stéphanie Sophie Louis (Cohort 2020). Born in Port-au-Prince and educated in local schools across Haiti’s Central Plateau, Stéphanie is a testament to the power of our mission to provide comprehensive support to the youth of Haiti. Her path has taken her from student in rural Haiti to national leader as President of the Youth Government of Haiti. She has met prime ministers and represented the promise of Haitian diplomacy on the global stage at the International UN Simulation in Dubai.

Stéphanie’s story shows what is possible when we invest in rural education and follow through with mentorship, opportunity, and scholarships. We don’t just educate students— we help develop the future leaders of a nation.

Summits Education grew out of and a powerful friendship between Dr. Paul Farmer and Father Fritz Lafontant — rooted in the belief that children learn best when they are healthy, supported, and cared for.

Today, that legacy lives on. Through our close partnership with Zamni Lasante (PIH in Haiti), students and families across Summits communities receive health and wellness visits and referrals that help remove barriers to learning.

Because when education and health go hand in hand, brighter futures become possible.

Today is World Water Day and, at Summits, the numbers show a hard reality— only 31% of our schools have access to clean water and 71% of students screened suffer from health issues—the majority being water-borne skin diseases. Water isn’t just a health concern, it’s an education barrier.

We are changing the math with . By installing high-capacity filtration systems, we are eliminating the source of these diseases and keeping students where they belong— in the classroom, healthy and ready to learn. This is more than a partnership; it’s a lifeline. 🇭🇹✨

Since 2017, Summits Education and the have partnered to ensure a high-quality learning environment for more than 450 students in the community of Baille Tourible in Haiti’s Central Plateau. Grounded in a shared belief that education is the most powerful path out of poverty, our collaboration is helping shape brighter futures. Together, we have supported a thriving school community where quality teaching and joyful learning are creating opportunity for our students.

This year marks an exciting new chapter as we launch a comprehensive 3rd cycle curriculum to be piloted in Baille Tourible — expanding pathways for students to continue learning, growing, and leading.

Today is International Women’s Day and Summits is proud to celebrate the incredible women who help make our schools thrive— from the teachers in the classroom, to the nurses who keep us healthy, the cooks who keep us nourished, and our academic and leadership teams who navigate our path forward. Summits is proud to partner with the extraordinary to create engaging and fun curricula like Eksploratoryòm for science and Krik Krak! for social studies to support students’ learning and pride in their country and culture.
