The Houndstooth Haberdashery began as a blog in 2007 out of a love of men's vintage clothing. The style, quality, and rarity of vintage pieces drove me to research and search for these elusive treasures. Browse through the over 275 posts found on the blog, ranging from short and sweet to scholarly and informative. The Houndstooth Haberdashery Etsy page followed in December of 2011 in an attempt to provide men with affordable, quality vintage pieces. Since then the haberdashery has garnered nearly 500 favorites and made over 200 successful transactions. The next step was a brick-and-mortar shop in 2018, offering not only men's vintage clothing, but tailor-made suits, handmade custom hats, shaving supplies, and more. This Houndstooth page is meant to provide you with easy access to myself and the haberdashery. Whether you're a connoisseur of fine vintage and/or tailored clothing, a buyer, or just intrigued with the history of men's style, this page is your doorway to an incredible world.

I picked this up earlier in the year, and now I'm letting it go. Here's your chance!

A spectacular 1930s/40s European (I believe German) casual jacket in raspberry. It has a corduroy shell and cotton flannel lining, in excellent condition. All of the zips work fine. The only flaw I find is a frayed lining seam (see last photo).

This wild lightweight sports coat is perfect for the blazing temperatures we've been experiencing lately. From the 1950s, it's made of a lightweight linen or similar fabric with a short vent in back, a half lining, and a 3-button front closure that rolls to the center button. Check out that spectacular fabric pattern!

This is one of the most beautiful suits I've had the pleasure of handling during my vintage career. It's obviously European, the seller said they got it from a Hungarian lady, the hanger is German, and the buttons are in English. We'll just call it European. đŸ˜‰

It's in amazing condition for its age. I find no real flaws with it, and it's in a very human size: 42R, 37x32. Made of what appears to be medium weight worsted wool (that is soft almost like flannel), this black suit is understated but has some amazing characteristics: full peaked lapels, a stylish short vest, super high-waisted trousers (to meet the short vest) with side adjustments and a fishtail back.

The neatest thing about this might not even be the suit itself, but the unique German hanger, which is included when you purchase the suit.
