8 years. It’s hard to wrap our brains around that still. The kids you taught and coached are young adults making their way through this thing called life. They carry your spirit, determination, caring and love with them daily. I still get to hear the occasional message/story that was meant for you and can’t help but smile. I tell them to say it to the sky because Mr. Sison is always listening. He listens to all you have to say, good or bad. You just have to have the courage to say it.

As always, raise a glass to all the great ones that left us too early. Do a good deed just because. Swallow that pride and call or text that person you haven’t reached out to over some silly misunderstanding.
To “L double E”, we miss you everyday….not just this one. 🍻 ❤️

There are good ones and there are great ones. And then there was Grandpa Joe. As a teacher, you are fortunate to run into special parents or grandparents that help for a year. Grandpa Joe helped out even when all his grand kids were done at Casillas. Everything from running copies, reading with kids, going on field trips, and so many more tasks that benefit the teacher and classroom. We (Casillas Elementary) lost a pillar of our community today. A whole segment of Casillas kids had a Filipino Grandpa and it didn’t matter whether they were Filipino, Mexican, African American, or any other nationality. He was beyond differences and embraced these Casillas kids like they were his own flesh and blood. For those old enough, have a glass of red wine and think of what you can do to make the community around you better. Grandpa Joe did. 💔

The 1st annual Lee Sison “Love of Learning” Awards. The video might be a bit blurry but Mr. Kane’s voice is perfectly clear in describing who Lee was and what he meant/means/will always mean to the community of Casillas. Great job by four great sixth grade teachers: Kane, Esslinger, Stephens, and Lemke.❤️
