"The Language and Literature Area is pleased to present the Inaugural Issue of SCOP (2026) as a student-led publication. This publication represents the hard work of two senior English interns: Editor-in-Chief Makenzie Zimmerman and Editor Krista Riefer. Students from across campus were invited to submit their art and writing for possible publication. Zimmerman and Riefer ran the editing process like a professional literary magazine, making publication and editing decisions, along with asking student contributors to revise and resubmit. This publication offers all SBU students an opportunity to publish their works in a professional manner. This year's issue features the works of 12 students, which you can access at the following link at the bottom of the English Major page of the SBU website: https://www.sbuniv.edu/academics/programs/english.php . We are looking forward to continue to celebrate writing and art at SBU as we develop the project further in years to come."

On Wednesday, April 29th, Julia Bartgis's Creative Writing for Young Adults class had the pleasure of reading their work at PCCS. The high school students were attentive and had great questions after the presentation. SBU students Jacob Bill, Laura Dixon, Henry Walker, Leah Wirth, and Ali Youngblood participated in this excursion.
