The Missouri House of Representatives passed HB 416 this week that would create the state first benchmark for school safety. The bill moves onto the Senate or hopefully it can be passed and sent on to the governor for his signature. Missouri is one of a handful of states that does not have mandated school safety measures for all public schools. Well done to the House of Representatives! Come on state Senate. We’re counting on.

We’re eager to welcome Msgt Wells to the Liberator Family.

We are thrilled to announce that our Bolivar High School Air Force JROTC program has secured its future! The 2025 National Defense Authorization Act included a provision to lower the enrollment requirement, allowing our program to continue. This exciting news has allowed the district to move forward with hiring a new instructor. Please join us in welcoming MSgt Jamie Wells as the new instructor of the BHS Air Force JROTC - Public Page program!

Providing top quality facilities for our vocational education students is essential. Thank you to the voters of the Bolivar school district for support ing agricultural education through the construction of a new agricultural education building. Agriculture is the number one industry in our county. By better training tomorrow’s leaders in Ag we support our community’s future.

🔔…and if you see a spliced and edited version of a portion of the board forum from three years ago in a video currently circulating that suggests I support outrageous ideas that fly in the face of what I and this school district stand for, please question the source and content. And then please call or message me if you have questions. I’m 417-399-5360.

This same type of thing happened three years ago and it’s happening again. To the people spreading these ludicrous accusations…stop it. Just stop. You do not make our community better by trying to tear me or our school system down by lying. That’s not the Liberator way.

My sincere thanks to the individual who had the fortitude to question what was shown to her and then took the time to call to ask me if what was being circulated was true. That was a demonstration of the character we need in our community.

Bolivar CTA is hosting the School Board Forum on Tuesday, March 25th, at 6:00 PM. There are two positions on the school board up for vote. The school board forum will be live-streamed on our Bolivar Schools YouTube channel.

In the nine years I’ve served on the Bolivar R-1 Board of Education we’ve grown and added many valuable programs and structures. But the one nearest and dearest to my heart is our Early Childhood Learning Center. Research continues to indicate that access to early childhood education provides a measurable difference in the academic success of students. Through the ECLC we are able to impact young learners’ lives with robust learning to help them meet their developmental benchmarks to prepare them for the learning that awaits them in kindergarten and beyond. Thank you to the voters of our district for supporting the construction of the facility. I’d appreciate your vote for school board on April 8 to continue to serve our school district.

Advocating….telling the story…..speaking up for public education. It’s one of the MOST important roles a school board member plays in suppertimg oir district. We are elected officials meeting with other elected officials. We speak on behalf of the 900,000+ kids in Missouri public schools who depend on US to do everything we can to secure their access to the best education possible in a safe, nurturing environment that prepares them for a world that we can’t at times envision.
