After 41 years of coaching football, 27 of those at Bishop Kelly High School, BK’s Head Football Coach Tim Brennan has announced his retirement from coaching.

Coach Brennan began his coaching career at Weiser High School where he was an assistant football coach from 1982 - 1991. He took the head coaching position at Bishop Kelly in the fall of 1992, and led the BK program until 2007 when he and his wife Denise moved out of state. During that time, Brennan was the Head Football Coach at West Mifflin High School in Pittsburg, PA. Upon his return to Idaho Brennan spent a year as the Head Football Coach at Caldwell High School, and then returned to Bishop Kelly in the fall of 2011.

In his 27 years at Bishop Kelly, Coach Brennan accumulated an impressive 232-61 win-loss record. That includes six state championships, six state runner ups, and more than a dozen conference championships. While he certainly won an incredible number of games, banners, and trophies, it is the relationships that he develops with his players and coaches that really sets Coach Brennan apart. As Brennan has drilled into his players, WIN stands for “What’s Important Now.” And what’s important now is our love, admiration, and respect for Coach Brennan and the culture that he built in the Bishop Kelly Football Program. We are sad that he won’t be running things from the sideline next fall, but excited for him to have more time to spend with Denise, his kids, and his six grandchildren.

Bishop Kelly will begin the search and selection process for a new head football coach in the coming weeks.

We are so excited share the news that BK Senior Annie Carey has been named US Paralympic Female Track Athlete of the Year! Additionally, Annie was named All-American in the Long Jump, 100m, and 200m for her T44 division.

From Team USA:
"Carey’s world record-breaking long jump at the 2022 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships in June, as well as strong showings in the women’s 100-meter and 200-meter T44 events, propelled her to the Female Track Athlete of the Year honors following her junior year of high school at Bishop Kelly High School. Carey is also a former World Para Athletics Junior Championships bronze medalist, and the now-senior recently represented the United States at the 2022 IWAS World Games, where she won the 100 and 200-meter races."

From Coach Carp:
"This is a well-deserved honor for Annie! She is such a quality individual and a great ambassador for Team USA and Bishop Kelly! She is driven, focused, and one of the hardest workers I have ever coached."

Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment Annie! We are so proud of you.

The BK Speech and Debate Team launched their 2022-3 season with a Sweepstakes Championship at the Canyon County Classic this past weekend at Skyview HS. With 24 schools from Idaho, Utah, and Nevada competing, the BK squad powered through with many outstanding performances.

The team was marvelously fueled with a pancake breakfast feast thanks to the culinary wizardry of Mrs. Angella Valdez and Ramon. A tremendous thanks go out to the many parents and supporters who judged and fed the gang over the two days. Our participation is impossible without their generosity and time.

Some of the noteworthy individual performances on the Speech side include: Tucker Gratton (1st-After Dinner Speaking), Maggie Avey (1st-Panel Discussion), Lucy Glynn (1st-Original Oratory), Kate Revier (Top Novice-Informative), Manuel Valdez (Runner-Up-Radio Broadcasting). On Saturday, the debaters shined: Maggie, Max Ciovacco, and Lucy led the sweep of the Open Congress top spots. Becky Green topped Novice Congress. Gold Debate winners included Kylie Jackson /Molly O'Sullivan in Varsity Public Forum and Mullai Subramaniyan/ Maggie Scanlon in Novice Public Forum.

Next up, Meridian Debate on Nov.12.

Until next time, Pax Vobiscum, Y'all.

Today, on All Souls Day, we celebrate and honor the lives of our classmates, Braden Caldwell and Henry Warner, as well as many others that we've lost in our BK Community.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

Thank you to BK Sophomore Amelia Crawford for organizing the creation of this beautiful ofrenda at the Dia de los Mu***os celebration taking place tonight at JUMP in downtown Boise. The celebration is from 5PM-8PM, and all are welcome to attend. Additionally, the ofrendas will be on display until November 19th. We hope that you can stop by and pay your respects to Braden and Henry, and we also invite you to add photos of your own lost loved ones to the ofrenda.

In Catholic Latin American culture, Dia de los Mu***os honors death as a natural part of life. On Dia de los Mu***os the dead are also part of the community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with their loved ones. 💛🖤
