A multi-class reunion of FDR's alum's of the 1950's and 1960's was held in Boise, Idaho from Sept 7 - 9, 2017. It was attended by over 130 people, including 80 alum's, 45 guests, and 5 current and former school officials and teachers. The reunion was hosted by Boise resident and Class '65 alum John Carver who organized a Thursday Welcome Cocktail, a Saturday dinner dance for the group, and made a Hospitality Suite available for all from Wednesday evening through Sunday, with a good supply of pisco sours, wine, beer, and soft drinks. A good time was had by everyone.
Twenty (20) alum's arrived early enough on Wednesday and dined together that evening in a private room of The Riverside Hotel. Friday was an open/free day, but a group of 16 alum's got together for a daytime culinary and historical tour of Boise, and were later joined by 50 other alum's for dinner at Joe's Crab Shack.
The Class of '66 alum's got together at an alum's nearby home for a private dinner Friday evening, while a couple other alum group's had dinner at local restaurants.
The Thursday and Saturday evening meals at the hotel were prepared by a Cambodian chef using recipes from the Gaston Acurio cookbook and were obviously Peruvian themed with the traditional foods we all loved to eat when we lived in Lima: anticuchos de lomo y pollo, butifarras, papas rellenas, flan de coco, ceviche de pescado, causa de atun, lomo saltado, arroz con leche. It was all delicious and many alum's went back for 2nd and 3rd helpings before DJ Juanito let loose with his musical selections of the 50's and '60's for all the dance enthusiasts and sent us all home with CD's of music of that era.
If you missed the fun in Boise, be sure to make it to the next reunion. The next gathering will be the Annual Alum Luncheon to be held on the school grounds in Lima on Saturday April 21, 2018 where the Class of 1968 plans to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. Paul King, Class '63, will be hosting a multi-class reunion in 2019 and has already started to make plans for another successful gathering.
