Fall registration is open to the public on February 14th!
Downtown Prep is the sister school to 5 star rated North End Prep. Our school has teacher student ratios ranging from 1:4-1:6 and with the small class sizes every student is given the attention they need to succeed.
You can go to our website to fill out a registration form and hold your spot today. Once our current families have claimed their spot, we will fill any vacancies in the order applications were received so hop on over to www.downtownprepboise.com right now!
Do not miss registering before spots are filled. We have virtually no movement during the school year so the chance of getting into our school after March 1st is very unlikely.
We use hands on, project and play based learning to teach children everything they need to know to be top in their class come Kindergarten.
Along with academics is a constant social emotional curriculum that teaches kindness, acceptance, and calming strategies.
We utilize being in the heart of the city by exposing our students to all that living in such a vibrant city offers. One day it may be touring the Metro Station on Main street, learning how buses help the environment, taking maps back to the school and seeing where the bus can take us. We may spend the morning in Freak Alley taking silly pictures with art. We may walk to the capitol to take turns ringing the bell and touring the inside. We love to get on the bus to go to the botanical gardens and Eagle Rock Park for the day, or take a field trip to the library or post office to learn more about the services they provide.
This year we are narrowing the age range for each class, giving us the opportunity to let every child learn skills more appropriate for them. We have added a Transitional Kindergarten class that will prepare children to go on to Kindergarten or First Grade depending on their age and readiness.
Our regular school day is from 9am-3pm, with early and late hours from 8am-6pm.
Our current classes offered are
ones and twos
2 1/2- 3 1/2 Class
3 1/2- 4 1/2 Class
Transitional Kindergarten (4 1/2- 5 1/2)

North End Prep
North End Prep is a part time preschool focused on community service, organic gardening, recycling, Our teachers are fully vaccinated. Our class sizes are small.
Our students love every day at school. Our results are remarkable!
Operating as usual
I love this!
A teacher gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The teacher then mixed all the balloons. The students were then given 5 minutes to find their own balloon. Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon.
At that point, the teacher told the students to take the first balloon that they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it. Within 5 minutes, everyone had their own balloon.
The teacher said to the students: "These balloons are like happiness. We will never find it if everyone is looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness, we'll find ours too."
May your day be filled with happiness. ❤️

Our part time preschool is from 9am to 1pm. We have earned our 5 star rating by treating each child as an individual. Our learning is always done in a fun, hands on way that is project and interest based.
We challenge kids who are high achievers, work with kids who are struggling one on one, and never give them tasks that they aren't ready for.
We can do this because our ratios are among the smallest in Boise. We have 2 teachers for each class, with a max of 12 students.

North End Prep has big news! We are moving downtown and changing our name. Downtown Prep will be opening at 311 W. Idaho Street in July of 2022!
The best part about our new location is that we can now offer before and after care, and accommodate children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
What we need right now is some more amazing teachers. Do you know someone who would be a great fit?
Loving and accepting all kids is priority number one. Being patient, kind, and creative are very important as well.
Working in an environment where you get to hang out with super cute kids who laugh at all of your jokes, love you almost instantly, make you laugh every day, and don’t even know what talking back is yet, are just a few of the benefits of working with us. Our teachers are kind, team players, and also pretty fun as well. We also pay more than the other preschools and daycares in Boise, and offer raises anytime we see staff standing out.
Before I got back in to working with littles, I was home with my own 4 kids for a handful of years until my two youngest started preschool. I needed to go back to having adults to talk to but wasn’t ready to go to work full time and be completely away from my babies. Teaching preschool was a job that fit like a glove.
There are lots of reasons that working in a preschool could be your perfect fit.
Maybe you too have been home with kids and are ready to get back out there, but still want some flexibility in your schedule. Maybe you even have a preschool aged child who could attend at a discount and accompany you to work.
Maybe your kids are older, or even out of the home and you would love to work with little ones again.
Maybe you are considering getting a degree in education but want to try it out before completing your degree.
Maybe you are or were a teacher and you would like to continue teaching, but at a slower pace. Teaching in ratios of 4:1, 6:1, or 8:1 instead of 26:1. Plus no grading papers, or meeting state standards, but instead help kids grow from where they start.
Maybe you aren’t looking for 40 hours a week but would love to work a few days a week, or a few mornings or nights a week?
We are the answer to all of the above!
Our biggest needs right now are as follows:
Nursery- ages 6 weeks to 24 months. 4:1 ratio for 3 hours a day and 2:1 ratio for 5 hours a day
M-F 7:30-3:30 (This could be T/TH, MWF, or M-F)
M-F 10:30-6:30 (This could be T/TH, MWF, or M-F)
2/3s class- 6:1 ratio
M/W- 1:30-6:30
T/TH/F- 9-3
4/5s class: 8:1 ratio
M-F 9-3 (This could be T/TH, MWF, or M-F)
Wednesday- 1:30-6:30
Requirements:
City of Boise Childcare license- Downtown Prep will pay all fees associated. This takes approximately a week to 10 days to obtain. You will need CPR/First Aid training which we will pay for and arrange, and a background check.
Full vaccination from Covid-19- This is absolutely not political. Our vaccine policy comes down to the fact that we are all working with an unprotected population, and the fact that when you are sick, we are short staffed and can not be open, causing multiple parents to have to stay home from work as well.
As this is not political, we do not need your feedback on your political view regarding this. Thank you.

We’re kind of obsessed with puffy paint lately. Friday we made some rainbows with a pot of gold for St. Patrick’s day.
Today we talked about Winter turning into Spring. Snowmen do not like Spring. 😥
We read such a cute book called There’s a Monster in Your Book. Then we made our own little monsters to put in our own books.
February is Kindness month at North End Prep. Last week we read one of our favorite books, How Full is Your Bucket For Kids.
Afterwards we made our own buckets and helped fill our friend’s buckets with compliments and kind words.
How can you fill someone’s bucket today?
We are seeking to hire someone beginning in the Spring to lead our 2/3s class.
If you are kind, patient, fun, energetic, and organized, you could be perfect!
This class is all about being silly, dancing, singing, and teaching in a completely hands on, play based fashion.
If you have experience with young children and are thinking about going into education, or are already pursuing a degree in education, you are the perfect fit.
Requirements:
Pediatric CPR/First Aide
City of Boise Childcare license
We will reimburse you for both of these once hired but you must hold a license by the first day of work. We can schedule CPR First Aide Training for you.
You must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide your vaccination card at hiring.
Three references from people who have hired or observed you taking care of small children
We offer the highest pay in town, plus benefits. We pay a portion of your health insurance, offer a 401k, and employee discounts.
Our work environment is fun and carefree. We all work as equals no matter if we are the owner or an employee. As lead teacher, you are in charge of your classroom layout and projects. Our core philosophy is teaching empathy and service to others. We stress kindness to ourselves, our community, and the Earth in everything we do.
We have different shift available and are willing to work with your school or family schedule. You may choose full or part time, early or later starts.
Our afternoon class made some really cool pictures last week. They weren’t hard, but they were time consuming, only because you have to do it in steps.
First we painted the top half of our paper purple, then we pressed down a flat circle shape into the purple to make a foggy moon.
After that we sprinkled the purple with salt
to make little snow flurries.
Next, we painted the bottom half blue, making this layer of paint quite a bit thicker than the purple.
After we painted it, we covered the blue in saran wrap and pressed it down to make texture. This is where time comes in. We let them dry overnight before peeling the saran wrap off.
Once we took off the saran wrap, we cut out a polar bear template. We placed the template where we wanted, and we sponge blotted white paint inside the template for our polar bear. They turned out really great!
Gung hay fat choy! Happy Chinese New Year! We made really cute paper chain Chinese New Year Dragons today. We had a big stash of Book jackets that we used as the chains and they turned out really cool.
The Snowy Day story and craft for a snowy day outside.
We made puffy snow with equal parts shave foam and glue, then cut out our own little Peters to add to our snowy day scenes.
We made the cutest little penguins today using water bottles. ❤️
We were so lucky to have one of our very own preschooler’s dads, Chief Quintero, and his coworker Petty Officer Ghaumbauda with the US Navy come talk to our class about their jobs planning routes, navigating, and even fighting pirates!
We sent them off with one of our gigantic baskets of candy to take back to work with them, and me and my kids delivered more to the VA this afternoon.
Thank you veterans for all that you do! We appreciate your service and sacrifice. ❤️ 🇺🇸
Have I mentioned lately how amazing our preschool families are?
We have a mom from our preschool who just left for New Jersey to go to Boot Camp for the Coast Guard, her husband is in the Navy, our Spanish teacher served in the Air Force, and another one of our preschooler’s dads served in the Marines.
We are so thankful for all the work that they do for our country. We have been teaching the kids about the sacrifice and service military members make for us, and we are thanking them this Veterans Day by making them goodie bags.
I sent out the simple request that people could bring in extra Halloween candy, and within two days I know that I have more than 100 pounds of candy. This week we have been working on cards, and next week we are going to work on scooping candy into treat bags and delivering them to the VA, and sending some to the military members that we know personally.
Our 4/5s class loaded the wagon and walked to the Women and children’s shelter to drop off our 12 birthday party in a bags and 1 Halloween party in a bag.
Many people think to donate necessities, and it’s easy to forget that women and children living in a shelter have hopes as well as needs. These were definitely just something extra and much appreciated
At North End Prep one of our core philosophies is teaching small children that they can make big changes.
Community service is one of our favorite things to do. This month we were overwhelmed with all of our school families generous donations for our birthday boxes that we made for the local women and children shelter.
Families living in shelters often don’t have the means to celebrate each other‘s birthdays. We understand how important birthdays are to little children, so we packaged up 12 birthdays in a bag, plus a bonus Halloween party in a bag. Each bag contains cake mix, frosting, a banner, tablecloth, plates, napkins, candles, balloons, favors, and a small gift.
Our preschoolers have been very excited about this project, especially after they saw it all put together.
Fall field trip to the Botanical Gardens. Our 3/4s class had a great time walking the trails, smelling chocolate flowers, opening up a carnivorous pitcher plant to see all the bugs that it had eaten, looking at scarecrows, Cuoi fish, and pumpkins.
Don’t blink, you’ll miss it.
Preschoolers love the demanding Pigeon! We read two Pigeon books today and then made our own super cute hand print pigeons.
North End Prep is a leader in child safety during Covid. Our director is one of 50 teachers worldwide to be awarded Microsoft’s Award in Excellence for her handling of Covid in an educational setting.
At NEP we have never had so much as a Covid scare. Zero quarantines, zero cases, zero days closed. Why? Because your child’s safety comes above anything else.
We as a preschool focus on service, kindness, and academic excellence. We do this through play, experiences, art, and hands on learning.
Our tuition includes:

This was our last week of summer school. Some of these kids have been with us from the very beginning. Whether they joined last year, or during the summer, we’re going to miss all these little people! I think they’re going to miss each other too. Walking to the park the other day they were all holding hands with friends they have met. ❤️
