Downtown Prep is the sister school to 5 star rated North End Prep. Our school has teacher student ratios ranging from 1:4-1:6 and with the small class sizes every student is given the attention they need to succeed.

Do not miss registering before spots are filled. We have virtually no movement during the school year so the chance of getting into our school after March 1st is very unlikely.

We use hands on, project and play based learning to teach children everything they need to know to be top in their class come Kindergarten.

Along with academics is a constant social emotional curriculum that teaches kindness, acceptance, and calming strategies.
We utilize being in the heart of the city by exposing our students to all that living in such a vibrant city offers. One day it may be touring the Metro Station on Main street, learning how buses help the environment, taking maps back to the school and seeing where the bus can take us. We may spend the morning in Freak Alley taking silly pictures with art. We may walk to the capitol to take turns ringing the bell and touring the inside. We love to get on the bus to go to the botanical gardens and Eagle Rock Park for the day, or take a field trip to the library or post office to learn more about the services they provide.

This year we are narrowing the age range for each class, giving us the opportunity to let every child learn skills more appropriate for them. We have added a Transitional Kindergarten class that will prepare children to go on to Kindergarten or First Grade depending on their age and readiness.

Our regular school day is from 9am-3pm, with early and late hours from 8am-6pm.

I love this!

A teacher gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The teacher then mixed all the balloons. The students were then given 5 minutes to find their own balloon. Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon.

At that point, the teacher told the students to take the first balloon that they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it. Within 5 minutes, everyone had their own balloon.

The teacher said to the students: "These balloons are like happiness. We will never find it if everyone is looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness, we'll find ours too."

North End Prep's new location, Downtown Prep's new school year starts on Monday, August 29th.
We expanded our classrooms to allow for part time students and we still have a few spots in both our T/TH class for 2 and 3 year olds, and our MWF class for 4 and 5 year olds.
Our part time preschool is from 9am to 1pm. We have earned our 5 star rating by treating each child as an individual. Our learning is always done in a fun, hands on way that is project and interest based.
We challenge kids who are high achievers, work with kids who are struggling one on one, and never give them tasks that they aren't ready for.
We can do this because our ratios are among the smallest in Boise. We have 2 teachers for each class, with a max of 12 students.

North End Prep has big news! We are moving downtown and changing our name. Downtown Prep will be opening at 311 W. Idaho Street in July of 2022!

The best part about our new location is that we can now offer before and after care, and accommodate children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.

What we need right now is some more amazing teachers. Do you know someone who would be a great fit?
Loving and accepting all kids is priority number one. Being patient, kind, and creative are very important as well.

Working in an environment where you get to hang out with super cute kids who laugh at all of your jokes, love you almost instantly, make you laugh every day, and don’t even know what talking back is yet, are just a few of the benefits of working with us. Our teachers are kind, team players, and also pretty fun as well. We also pay more than the other preschools and daycares in Boise, and offer raises anytime we see staff standing out.

Before I got back in to working with littles, I was home with my own 4 kids for a handful of years until my two youngest started preschool. I needed to go back to having adults to talk to but wasn’t ready to go to work full time and be completely away from my babies. Teaching preschool was a job that fit like a glove.

There are lots of reasons that working in a preschool could be your perfect fit.

Maybe you too have been home with kids and are ready to get back out there, but still want some flexibility in your schedule. Maybe you even have a preschool aged child who could attend at a discount and accompany you to work.

Maybe your kids are older, or even out of the home and you would love to work with little ones again.

Maybe you are considering getting a degree in education but want to try it out before completing your degree.

Maybe you are or were a teacher and you would like to continue teaching, but at a slower pace. Teaching in ratios of 4:1, 6:1, or 8:1 instead of 26:1. Plus no grading papers, or meeting state standards, but instead help kids grow from where they start.

Maybe you aren’t looking for 40 hours a week but would love to work a few days a week, or a few mornings or nights a week?

We are the answer to all of the above!

Our biggest needs right now are as follows:

Nursery- ages 6 weeks to 24 months. 4:1 ratio for 3 hours a day and 2:1 ratio for 5 hours a day
M-F 7:30-3:30 (This could be T/TH, MWF, or M-F)
M-F 10:30-6:30 (This could be T/TH, MWF, or M-F)

2/3s class- 6:1 ratio
M/W- 1:30-6:30
T/TH/F- 9-3

4/5s class: 8:1 ratio
M-F 9-3 (This could be T/TH, MWF, or M-F)
Wednesday- 1:30-6:30

Requirements:
City of Boise Childcare license- Downtown Prep will pay all fees associated. This takes approximately a week to 10 days to obtain. You will need CPR/First Aid training which we will pay for and arrange, and a background check.

Full vaccination from Covid-19- This is absolutely not political. Our vaccine policy comes down to the fact that we are all working with an unprotected population, and the fact that when you are sick, we are short staffed and can not be open, causing multiple parents to have to stay home from work as well.
