ATTENTION PARENTS: Managing Teen Stress Event

Learn about how to help your teen manage stress throughout the school year and exam week with a presentation by licensed clinicians from the Faulk Center for Counseling. The Faulk Center for Counseling is a local non-profit organization that organizes support group programs for people of all ages to promote emotional well-being. Discussion topics include the causes of stress and how it can be managed using healthy methods. Resources will be provided for teens and parents including relevant books, online resources, and local services.

Spanish River Community High School juniors Michelle Huang and Thomas Beres, along with Spanish River Community School faculty, presented the Faulk Center with a $1,000 check in support of our teen counseling groups. Through the school international business organization, Spanish River DECA, Michelle and Thomas worked on a competitive Public Relations Project, which they named “From Stress to Success.” Their project brings awareness to the stressor facing high school students and shows students healthy methods of managing their stress. For the project, their DECA chapter hosted several events in school, including a speaker, a yoga event, and runs/walks outside of school. In October, Michelle and Thomas’s group organized a fundraiser by selling stress balls with their logo in order to support an organization or program that can offer stress management skills to students and assist them with any emotional problems. Faulk Center for Counseling is extremely grateful to Michelle, Thomas and their entire DECA chapter for donating the proceeds of their fundraisers to the Faulk Center in support of the work we do helping teens through difficult times.
