Palm Beach State College brought together educators from across Florida at our Lake Worth campus for the Association of Florida Colleges Region V Conference.

The conference allowed higher education leaders to exchange ideas, share best practices, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of education.

"Whether we're discussing artificial intelligence, student success strategies, ethical uses of technology, curriculum innovation, or workforce development, we're all exploring the same important question: How do we prepare students for a future that is changing faster than ever before?" said PBSC President Ava L. Parker, JD.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their expertise and insights. Events like this strengthen collaboration across our colleges and inspire new ideas that benefit students and communities throughout Florida.

We're grateful for the generosity of Glades Covenant Community Church and its leadership in supporting our Belle Glade campus community.

When the popular arcade basketball game in the Student Activities Center needed to be replaced, Campus Safety Officer Johnnie Mullins connected with Pastor Kenneth Jackson and church leadership, who gladly stepped up to provide funding for a new game. Through the Palm Beach State College Foundation, those funds will help with the purchase of the new equipment for our students to enjoy.

Thank you, Mr. Mullins and Glades Covenant, for supporting out students and helping keep our Student Activities Center a welcoming and engaging place for our campus community!

"Paying it forward" is more than a philosophy for 2026 Emerald Torch Awards honoree Clara Acero, it's a commitment to creating opportunities for others.

Acero supports Palm Beach State College because she believes in institutions that give hardworking individuals the opportunity to pursue their goals and build brighter futures.

As a PBSC alumna, Acero understands the lasting impact of that investment. Many graduates remain in the community after completing their education, creating a cycle of opportunity, resilience and service.

We're to celebrate Clara and her commitment to creating a full-circle impact in our community.

Congratulations to Palm Beach State College students Christian Holmes, Wilguere Choisilme and Yasmir McCleod on receiving $2,500 scholarship from the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County during the 2026 Election Expo at PBSC's Lake Worth campus.

The scholarship presentation was part of a successful community event that drew more than 300 community members including PBSC students, faculty and staff. Hosted by PBSC in partnership with Leadership Palm Beach County and the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County, the free, nonpartisan Election Expo brought together community members, PBSC students, staff and faculty for an opportunity to engage with candidates and learn more about the upcoming election.

The inaugural scholarship program received 50 applications from students who shared their academic and career goals and how financial support would help them continue their education.

“We had far more applications than we expected,” said Debbie Chandler, a member of the League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County who served on the scholarship selection committee. “It was a very difficult decision, but they were the excellent choice.”

A memorable day at Palm Beach State College! Our Lake Worth campus served as the site of a press conference featuring Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, focused on election fraud and election reforms. Following the press conference, the governor and attorney general took time to meet with and speak to our law enforcement students alongside President Ava L. Parker, JD.

For these aspiring officers, the opportunity to connect with Florida’s top leaders was a meaningful moment as they prepare for careers dedicated to serving and protecting our communities.

Thank you, Gov. DeSantis and Attorney General Uthmeier, for taking the time to engage with the next generation of Florida law enforcement professionals.

We’re proud of our Criminal Justice Academy students and their commitment to serving their communities.
