Soon after its release, McCoy appeared on Sally Jessy Raphael as her bridal expert. McCoy’s love of flowers and the intricate part they play in wedding festivities lead her into partnership with Tim Berry, one of today’s top floral designers. With Mr. Berry, she opened Floral Concepts, a party- and wedding-floral business. (All of the flowers featured in McCoy’s book, FOR THE BRIDE, were designed by Floral Concepts.) Besides being an author of bridal-reference books, McCoy also wrote for Wedding Dresses magazine based in Paris and New York, For the Bride magazine and The Wedding Pages. Along the way and through her research, McCoy developed professional relationships with the top names in the bridal industry: Denis Reggie (today’s premiere photojournalist–photographer of John F. Kennedy, junior’s wedding); the late Monte Zucker (the world’s greatest, traditional wedding photographer); top celebrity bakers, Sylvia Weinstock, Ron Ben Israel, and Rose Levy Beranbaum (her book, The Cake Bible, is in its twenty-seventh printing) to name a few...
Because of her experience in the bridal industry, she personally knows the mainstream and couture designers in bridal fashion. For years, she provided gowns for Bloomingdale’s shows in Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens, besides being a keynote speaker and commentator at these events. She is also a keynote speaker at major bridal events across the country. A few years ago, McCoy launched the American an Academy of Wedding Professionals™. It was her idea to bring professionals, aspiring wedding planners and brides together.
