The idea of having a day to recognize and honor midwives came out of the 1987 International Confederation of Midwives conference in the Netherlands. Hi everyone! Sorry for the lag in posts. I’ve been working night’s as a postpartum doula. Between the night shift, clinic, classes, family and births it has been an amazingly busy month. I have learned a lot about how much sleep I REALLY do need, learned some important lessons in labor and birth, seen my family pull together to support me and simply let me sleep (they really can cook, clean and put away laundry without my help), I can still pass exams by cramming and much more. For anyone in the birth field, I feel closer to you and offer all of you the highest praises. It takes a strong woman to be “with woman” and I can’t imagine being anything else :-)
