Fedeline Pierre is a young Haitian American graphic designer who chose to go against the grain. In her community, pursuing art is seen as unusual—Haitian parents expect their children to become doctors, lawyers, or nurses. Anything outside of that is met with skepticism. If you don’t follow the path they want, then you will know George. (You do NOT want to know who George is.)
Despite these challenges, Fedeline built a foundation in Adobe software, working in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Her work in design and storytelling has led her to participate in four curated exhibitions, one of which she was nominated for by a professor. Inspired by her brother, who wasn’t encouraged to pursue art, she now serves as a role model for her younger sister. Through her work, she hopes to amplify voices within the Haitian community and inspire others to follow their own paths.
