A letter a week doesn’t cover everything. Although they do make for good evidence of learning to send home, macaroni letters and bean glueing activities are not helping our children become readers and writers. We strongly believe, and research shows, that students who demonstrate phonemic awareness and alphabet recognition are more likely to become successful readers. There’s a gap between intent and practice...and our mission to close it.
