Friday Games NIGHT! 11/07/2016
Stand Ups! 10/19/16 10/20/2016
09/11/2016

Hey guys! We had an awesome game jam this past Wednesday, and I want to thank everyone who came out -- it was a lot of fun.

PITCH NIGHT is this upcoming Wednesday, 9/14, 7:00 PM in Radio-TV's Studio 5 (on the bottom floor). For those who don't know, the Radio-TV building is by the Global and International Studies Building (which is right by Wells... You can probably figure it out).

Even if you're NOT pitching, you definitely should come -- it'll be your chance to talk to the team leaders and decide which team you want to join. (If you can't make it but still want to join a team, please let me know.)

IMPORTANT: If you want to pitch a game, let me know what you're pitching and the description of it, and send me your presentation if you've made one. If you haven't sent me your pitch by Tuesday night, you won't be able to present on Wednesday. Please email [email protected] or message me on Facebook/Slack. The purpose isn't to critique your pitch, just to offer brief feedback and confirm you're pitching so I can add you to the list. Also if you have a powerpoint or demo build or anything else that requires the use of setup and technology, make sure to send it in with your pitch so that we can minimize technical difficulties.

Here are the guidelines and the format:

1) intro ~ 30 seconds
-Who are you? Name/major/year, etc
-What's your role in design? (Programmer, artist, etc)

2) pitch ~ 45 seconds
-Brief overview of concept
-Boil it down to the essence of your game

3) specifics – 1 min
-What kind of team will you need?
-What engine are you thinking of using?

5) Q&A ~ 1-2 minutes
If you have any questions about game engines (most will be using Unity, but other engines are encouraged) or anything else, please ask me or Jon Brown.

I can't wait to see what you guys have for Wednesday!

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to announce that our callout will be this Wednesday (8/31) at 7:00 PM in Lindley Hall 102! Make sure to stop by and see all the great stuff in store for the semester. Also, if you have any friends who you think might be interested in the club, bring them along too! We welcome everyone, from the freshest of noobs to the next Will Wright.

Also, for those of you who are already part of the Game Design slack channel, make sure you join the channel for chatting and quick updates. (Also great emojis that add a lot to the conversation.)

Looking forward to seeing everyone Wednesday, both new and old faces alike!

Happy Monday, Hoosiers!

The clock has run out! Final stand-up presentations are this Wednesday night from 7pm-9pm in Studio 5! Even if you didn't make a game, come by and see what everyone else has made over the course of the semester! And then you can join us for the next semester and present!

Also, our last social event is this Friday at 5pm in GA1100. Drop by for board games, video games, Super Smash (of every flavor and generation) and Rocket League tournaments, and food!

Lots of announcements this week as the semester wraps to a close!

FINAL STAND-UPS
-Final stand-ups are NEXT WEEK (Wednesday, April 20th at 7pm in Studio 5); We're hoping to have most of the professors from the Game Design program and even some local game developers in attendance.

PRE-STAND-UPS JAM
-Knowing full-well that everyone procrastinated and will need to cram to get games touched up before the presentations, we've reserved a space for group work in GA1100 (in the Global and International Studies Building, between Wells and RTV) from 8am-10pm *this Saturday* (April 16th).

GAME NIGHT (open to public)
-What better way to decompress than to spend hours playing games with your mates? The Friday after stand-ups (April 22nd in GA1100) we're having our last Game Night of the year! Tournament games are currently in voting, but it's starting to look like some Smash and Rocket League fun. Invite your friends!

03/02/2016

Meeting today as usual! It's our last meeting before the Midterm Standups, so come by to pick the brains of our resident gurus to fix up your builds and get them into a working state.

02/23/2016

Happy Tuesday! We have two events this week:

For this Wednesday (2/24), we're just having a normal work meeting. However, the first stand-ups are in two weeks, so it's a good idea to come and ask questions now so you don't have any (well, /minimal/) issues that come up close to the date.

On Friday (2/26) is our first Game Night of the semester at BH217 at 7pm, with a focus on board/card games. If you're looking to socialize with other members or call your friends Fascists, come on down.

See you guys Wednesday! Stay frosty.

02/22/2016

If some of you Gamers have some more informatics/computing-esque ideas brewing (that perhaps you didn't get a chance to pitch this semester in HG), ICE's pitch night might be a good place to start finding members or practicing your pitch!
