With storms moving into our area today, we want to share important information about how we keep children and team members safe at Katieās Kids Learning Center.
We are proud to share that both of our locations include dedicated tornado shelters constructed in accordance with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) tornado shelter standards.
Our tornado shelters are 900 square feet in size and feature perimeter walls of solid grouted reinforced concrete block with 8ā deep pre-stressed concrete ceiling planks, which are welded into place at grouted steel bearing plates. The doors, windows, and interior finishes also meet FEMA tornado standards, providing a reinforced, secure space where children and staff can safely shelter during severe weather.
This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to providing families with not only high-quality childcare, but also an environment where safety, preparation, and peace of mind are at the forefront of everything we do.
