Mech Warriors FIRST Robotics Team 573

FRC Team 573 is a robotics team from Brother Rice and Marian High Schools in Bloomfield Hills, MI The FRC world championship will be in St.

Every year, FIRST challenges over 2000 teams of young students and mentors to design and build a robot in a six-week time period. Each team is given a "kit of parts" to assist them in the building process. Each team designs their robot specifically to what they feel is important in the gam, and although the robots may look and function very differently, each FRC team must follow the same set of co

mpetition rules and build specifications. After the FRC teams build their robots, they are attend in a series of competitions, each week getting more competitive. Louis, Missouri for the top teams to show what they are capable of. There are many aspects to the FIRST Robotics Competition other than engineering. Not only do teams receive awards for how well their robot performs during the competitions, but FRC teams are encouraged and given awards for community outreach, Entrepreneurship, Gracious Professionalism, Safety, Website, Team Spirit, Design, Animation and Engineering.

With school starting tomorrow, we wanted to look back on an amazing summer! Aside from our weekly informal meetings, we hosted a camp for 6th-10th graders from area schools, fundraised for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and worked on internal team fundraising efforts.

We are excited for these upcoming weeks, during which we will meet our new members and start laying the groundwork for our OCCRA, FTC, and FLL seasons!

What a crazy week it has been! After Day 2 of competition, we finished qualifications with a record of 7-3-0 and ranked 17th out of 74 in our division! While we didn't get a playoff run, it was quite the nice comeback for Mort after the mix of cross-functional struggles that we saw at Troy and States.

Thank you to all of our supporters who have made this season a reality. From our mentors, to our families, to our schools, to our sponsors, to all others cheering us on, we appreciate you!

It appears that we spoke too soon - We received an invite to the FIRST Championship on Monday and are extremely elated that our season is not over quite yet! Looking forward to another run with Mort next week!

After a few weeks of continuous improvement following the Troy District Event, we had the opportunity to compete in our 15th State Championship at SVSU! In line with the season theme, we did quite a bit of rebuilding. Match play was intense, and the pit crew stayed plenty occupied with mechanical and electrical fixes on Mort throughout the course of the weekend.

Though we didn't earn a playoff berth, we have so very much to celebrate! From welcoming our 5 seniors to our alumni group, to earning our first judged award at States in our team history (the Excellence in Engineering Award Presented by Littelfuse), to witnessing our friends from the Bloomfield Christian School Pixel Knights win the Rookie All-Star Award - Our hearts are full.

Thank you to Woodhaven Robotics - Team 3604 for the scouting partnership - It was great to work together. And to Hackbots 3414 - We appreciate all of the assistance at the machine shop to get all of our parts less askew.

While this is the end of our season, we are looking forward to cheering on our friends at Worlds and doing some extensive planning for our summer offseason!
