Another round of congratulations, this time for our Rice Class of 2026!
Brother Rice High School, Bloomfield, Michigan
FRC Team 573 is a robotics team from Brother Rice and Marian High Schools in Bloomfield Hills, MI The FRC world championship will be in St.
Every year, FIRST challenges over 2000 teams of young students and mentors to design and build a robot in a six-week time period. Each team is given a "kit of parts" to assist them in the building process. Each team designs their robot specifically to what they feel is important in the gam, and although the robots may look and function very differently, each FRC team must follow the same set of co

What a crazy week it has been! After Day 2 of competition, we finished qualifications with a record of 7-3-0 and ranked 17th out of 74 in our division! While we didn't get a playoff run, it was quite the nice comeback for Mort after the mix of cross-functional struggles that we saw at Troy and States.
Thank you to all of our supporters who have made this season a reality. From our mentors, to our families, to our schools, to our sponsors, to all others cheering us on, we appreciate you!

After a few weeks of continuous improvement following the Troy District Event, we had the opportunity to compete in our 15th State Championship at SVSU! In line with the season theme, we did quite a bit of rebuilding. Match play was intense, and the pit crew stayed plenty occupied with mechanical and electrical fixes on Mort throughout the course of the weekend.
Though we didn't earn a playoff berth, we have so very much to celebrate! From welcoming our 5 seniors to our alumni group, to earning our first judged award at States in our team history (the Excellence in Engineering Award Presented by Littelfuse), to witnessing our friends from the Bloomfield Christian School Pixel Knights win the Rookie All-Star Award - Our hearts are full.
Thank you to Woodhaven Robotics - Team 3604 for the scouting partnership - It was great to work together. And to Hackbots 3414 - We appreciate all of the assistance at the machine shop to get all of our parts less askew.
While this is the end of our season, we are looking forward to cheering on our friends at Worlds and doing some extensive planning for our summer offseason!

Calling this a roller coaster of a weekend would be an understatement. After a rough run fraught with mechanical, electrical, and coding issues, we ended our qualifications in 22nd out of 43 robots. We were the 9th overall pick, and had the opportunity to play in eliminations with our friends from 11493, the Pixel Knights, and AutoPilots Team 7762. We had a quicker exit than at Mt. Pleasant, but ended the event earning the FIRST Impact Award!
To our friends from 11493 - Thanks for the pick! It's been so great to work with you this season. We have been so excited to watch your first FIRST journey through the past few months and are glad to have had the opportunity to work together on the field! And to our friends from FRC Team 7769 : The CREW and Stoney Creek Cyber Cats - Thanks for partnering with us on scouting!
This event was more challenging than most, we but have done some good learning from some of the robot shortcomings and are hungry to get Mort more competitive for our next competition, the State Championship, in 3 weeks!

And our 2026 season is under way! After a week's worth of teambuilding and primers/refreshers on strategy and conceptualization, we put our brains to work on the new game, "Rebuilt". We are excited for what's to come!
A big thank you to our sponsor, Lawrence Technological University, for graciously hosting us on their campus and showing us the many opportunities in their robotics space!
