As Memorial Day approaches, take a moment to look at the American flags flying at your home, business, or organization. If your flag is faded, torn, frayed, or worn, now is the time to respectfully replace it so Old Glory can continue to fly with the dignity and honor it deserves. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is a sacred day of remembrance for the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. As we honor their sacrifice, remember the proper display of the flag on Memorial Day: the American flag should be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until noon, then raised back to full staff from noon until sunset. This tradition symbolizes mourning for our fallen heroes in the morning, and the nation’s resolve and continued freedom in the afternoon.

Let us honor their sacrifice by proudly and properly displaying our nation’s flag.

Thank you to the Jackson-Peck Herman Post 274 and the Benson American Legion Family Post #112 Omaha, Nebraska for helping to put on the flag program today at Deerfield. We passed out 159 flags and etiquette booklets today. The program does not work without the help of volunteers and the financial backing of our community. A special thank you to the South Omaha American Legion Post 331 and Auxiliary for attending. I know you intended to observe, but you jumped right in to provide much needed assistance and that was greatly appreciated.

Deerfield will be hosting the program this year. They too have a great space around their flag pole.
