FAQ: Do I need to read music to take lessons? 🎵

Nope! And I think a lot of people assume you do, which stops them from ever reaching out.

Reading music is a skill we can learn together if you want to — but it's not a requirement to get started. I've worked with students who couldn't read a single note and made beautiful progress.

All you really need is the desire to show up and sing. I'll handle the rest.

I say this to my students a lot. The voice that showed up to practice on a tired Tuesday is doing more work than the one waiting for the perfect moment.

Something I tell my students a lot: 🎵

Five minutes of practice is not nothing. Ten minutes is genuinely enough to make a difference.

You don't have to carve out an hour. You just have to sing today. Even if it's just one song in the car on the way to work.

Consistency beats marathon sessions every single time.

Don't be afraid of your voice. It's the truest sound you have. 🎵

I know that's easier said than done. Singing in front of someone, even just one person, can feel really vulnerable.

But that fear doesn't have to be the end of the story. Your voice deserves to be heard, even if only by a few people.

I think about this a lot. People apologize for their voice before they even sing a note. They think their voice is too high, too breathy, too whatever.

But that thing they're apologizing for is part of what makes their voice uniquely beautiful.
