Four. More great information on how important these little critters are!
🦇 THE BATS ARE ALREADY WORKING WHILE YOU'RE GETTING READY FOR BED.
That bat flying across your yard at dusk isn't just passing through.
It's hunting.
Many insect-eating bats spend the evening sweeping through the air, catching moths, beetles, mosquitoes and other flying insects.
And their value goes far beyond insect control.
🌿 Some bats are important pollinators.
🍌 In tropical ecosystems, bats help pollinate and disperse plants including bananas, mangoes and agave.
🌱 Their guano is nutrient-rich and has long been used as a natural fertilizer.
🏠 Many species return to familiar roosting areas when those places remain suitable and undisturbed.
One important correction to the viral claim: “1,000 mosquitoes an hour” isn't a number that applies to every bat. Feeding rates vary by species, prey availability and conditions.
But the bigger message is absolutely worth remembering:
When a bat appears at dusk, it's not something to fear.
It's a nighttime predator doing its job. 🌙🦇
Next time you see one, watch for a minute.
That little silhouette may be doing more work than you realize.
