Intern Introduction:
🧘🏻‍♀️Meg Coleman🧘🏻‍♀️

Here is Meg with a Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree she fell in love with on a visit to the Sunken Gardens in Saint Petersburg, Florida in May. As well as her copy work from On Trails, an Exploration by Robert Moor.

From Melanie:
Red Mountain Community School’s particular way of teacher formation is called provender. Our posture is to look at circumstances to see what wants and needs to grow… In our place, in our time, in our children, in Ourselves.

This year, Meg Coleman, is coming on as an Intern. Meg has been a parent in our school for 8 Years. She will be joining the teachers in our Reading and Keeping Sojourn in addition to being at the school on Thursdays. Meg is also our  yoga instructor! You may be hearing stories at home about yoga moments.

For more details about provender check out
www.Prov-en-der.com. After reading about this vital, undergirding work in our school, you might decide you would like to be a Sojourner too!

Teacher/staff introductions:
🪷Stephanie Diethelm🪷

Hello RMCS community. I'm Stephanie Diethelm and I am the Spiritual Director for RMCS.
I help to lead the chapel every Wednesday at 2:00pm. All are welcome!!
I will also be taking our youngest children K-2nd grade to the atrium which is a prepared environment for children to experience God using the approach called The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

This summer I have been rereading one of my all time favorite books, The Brothers Karamazov by Fydor Dostoevsky.

"Fear not the great nor the mighty, but be wise and serene. Know the measure, know the times, study them. When you are left alone, pray. Love to throw yourself upon the earth and kiss it. Kiss the earth and love it with an unceasing, consuming love. Love all men, love everything. Seek that ecstasy. Water the earth with the tears of your joy, and love those tears. Tears are a gift of God and a great one."

I will be teaching Upper Form which includes 9th-12th grade this year. I am also Head of School.

My copywork is from Mill on the Floss. I absolutely fell in love with George Eliot this year! “If you drive your (wagon) in a hurry you may light on an awkward corner.” Hahaha! Life advice!

Teacher/staff introductions!
🪚Charlie Hunter-Cook🪚

Mr. Charlie will be joining us this year to teach woodworking/carpentry/handypeople-ing. He and the children will be making and fixing stuff with tools.

Most recently he has been reading:
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. Still reading - it's long and very weird.

When asked for a piece of favorite copy work he sent this:
“Competitive tennis is largely mental, once you're at a certain plateau of skill and conditioning. Schtitt'd say spiritual instead of mental, but as far as Schacht sees it, Schtitt's philosophical stance is that to win enough of the time to be considered successful you have to both care a great deal about it and also not care about it at all.”
