Thank you to the for the generous $20,000 donation to support Veterans in Canton, GA and throughout Cherokee County. We will make sure our Veterans receive the support, resources, and assistance they deserve.

After losing my home in a fire in Birmingham, my mission became even stronger: to fight homelessness among Veterans and stand against hate crimes. I am a child of God. Thank you so much. 🙏🏽

Thank you to the auxiliary at the American Legion Post 201 for the donation. I didn’t expect it but I will make sure the Veterans here in Cherokee County get the support they need. 🫡

Today, I was honored to receive a coin from the National Commander of the American Legion of the United States of America under President Trump. One of the staff members remembered me from last year and asked me to come on stage to share my story about how I bounced back after losing my home in Birmingham, AL, and my journey playing with the disabled Veterans baseball team with the Chicago Cubs.

Thank you, sir, for the opportunity. Nothing was planned—I spoke straight from the heart.

When I return to DC, I know I’m in good hands. 🙏🏽

They said I might never walk again, but I proved them wrong. As a disabled Veteran, this moment meant everything to me. Shoutout to the Chicago Cubs for believing and fighting with heart. That game-winning line drive helped bring us this ring. Shoutout to all my sponsors for making this happen.

Thank you, Coach Montgomery, for talking with me every day and keeping me focused. When I told you, “I got you,” I meant every word. We struggled at first, but I made sure we finished strong and won the game. 🫡🙏🏽

I’m just a kid from Virginia, proving that resilience, faith, and determination can overcome anything.

Mayor Woodfin, I respectfully ask that you please sign the paperwork.

I looked up to you when I ran for election in the 99 Neighborhoods in Wylam, Alabama, after my home was intentionally set on fire. During that season, you gave many of us hope and inspired us to believe in a better future for our communities.

I truly do not want to pursue legal action against the City of Birmingham over something that should only require a signature. Instead, I would much rather have a meaningful conversation—for Birmingham, Alabama, for affordable housing, for our senior citizens, and for the people who need help the most.

Please help me move this forward. This is not the 1900s—we should be progressing, not going backward.

As a side note, I was honored to be accepted into Birmingham School of Law, but I am still trying to understand why they do not accept the G.I. Bill. As a 20-year disabled veteran, that is deeply concerning to me. Since you are an attorney, I would truly appreciate your insight on why veterans are unable to use their VA education benefits there and who is responsible for burning my house down? Thank you Governor we appreciate you supporting Veterans. 🫡

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. 🙏🏽

Thank you to the Chicago Cubs organization for giving me this opportunity and for continuing to pour into Disabled Veterans. This means more than you know.

Growing up in Evanston, IL, I never imagined I’d have moments like this—especially after a time when I thought I’d never play sports again. But God had a different plan.

This isn’t just a bat… it’s a reminder that purpose doesn’t end, it evolves.

To every Veteran out there: your story isn’t over. Keep going…🇺🇸

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of speaking with our brave Purple Heart recipients in North, GA. That same day, we proudly donated our 82nd vehicle to a Veteran in need! We also have a bike program too for physical health.

Why do we do this? In Metro Atlanta, traffic is insane, and without a MARTA system or affordable housing, our everyday working disabled Veterans struggle to get to work. These vehicles are lifelines to independence.
A massive THANK YOU to Christian Brothers Automotive - Canton for taking such incredible care of these vehicles, ensuring they are road-ready and safe. 🛠️💙

In addition to transportation, we have provided 1,165 days of hotel stays to Homeless Veterans here in Cherokee County. We truly appreciate all our sponsors and the local hotels for giving our heroes a warm place to stay during the cold winter months. ❄️🏠 I once was a temporary homeless Veteran when my house was set on fire in Alabama. I understand the pain. Here in Cherokee County, GA we have your back.

Prince William IV and my Princess Willow Grace Hicks are growing up so fast. Watching my daughter become valedictorian and seeing my son continue to achieve straight A’s fills my heart with pride.

Moments like these have made me rethink many of my financial decisions as a father, because their dedication has already opened the door for opportunities like a free college education. Those are the kind of “parent problems” I’m grateful to have.

I always tell my children that perfection isn’t the goal—doing your best is. Whether it’s an A or a B, what matters most is the effort, the character you build, and the person you become and always trust in God.

What God has planned for your lives is something none of us can fully control. My only wish is that you follow your dreams, stay true to yourselves, and pursue what truly makes you happy.

Dad will always be proud of you. ❤️

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Trader Joe’s for sponsoring the 12th Annual Cherokee County Homeless Veteran Program Charity Golf Tournament.

⛳ Golf Tournament Details
đź“… May 29
📍 BridgeMill Golf Club – Canton, Georgia

This event helps support Veterans in our community who are experiencing homelessness. In addition to the tournament, we will be distributing food bags and gift cards through our food pantry in partnership with Trader Joe’s.

🇺🇸 Veterans who would like to receive assistance must bring:
• DD-214
• Valid ID

If you would like to make a donation or become a sponsor, please feel free to send me a direct message, and I will provide the organization’s tax ID information.

Unfortunately, our county currently has the highest number of homeless Veterans in the State of Georgia, which is why community support like this is so important.

“Never leave a fallen comrade.” 🙏🏽🫡

Thank you to everyone helping us make a difference for those who served.
