CLASS ALERT!
Client Capacity, Implementing Change, and the Art of Collaborative Protocol Creation with Cameron Strouss, B.S., RH (AHG), FH, Aromatherapist

The most clinically sound protocol means nothing if a client can't digest it, integrate it, and implement it. This Focus Session explores the gap between what we think clients might need and what is logistically workable in their lives — and how practitioners can design protocols collaboratively with this in mind.
Through the frameworks of capacity assessment, behavior replacement, phased protocols, and client/practitioner collaborative care, in this Focus Session, we'll hash out how to more effectively meet clients in their lives rather than inside of our clinical ideal. Practitioners will leave with a toolkit for designing recommendations that are honest, sustainable, and workable for their clients.

I am an herbalist, not a medical doctor—always consult a licensed healthcare provider before making health decisions. Herbal use (like pharmaceuticals and OTC meds) carries risks, including side effects, allergic reactions, and interactions. Plant identification is a difficult skill and you are responsible for verifying and confirming the identification of every plant that you make medicine from or ingest. Y'all, here's one of the easiest wild edibles, Tradescantia virginiana or Virginia Spiderwort. Those purple, three-petal flowers, the buds, and the young leaves are all edible. And one of the best parts is that there are no lookalikes!
- Flowers- slightly sweet, toss 'em on a salad
- Flower buds- gather a whole bunch and sauté like rapini they are real tasty
- Young, tender leaves are great raw on a salad or sautéed
- The shoots are great sauteed

Once the leaves are a little older they will be fibrous and they aren't going to be as tasty.

I found my friend cleavers!
This sticky spring plant makes a beautiful sun tea with a mild cucumber-vanilla flavor, especially when gathered at the right time of year. Cleavers is also a gentle spring lymphatic, traditionally used to help get fluids moving after winter stagnation.
Look around your yard, see if cleavers is visiting, and try a simple sun tea.

Poison just gets you sometimes, even when you know all the things to do to help keep yourself protected.
A few takeaways from this vid...urushiol is an oily resin and it easily binds to the oils on your skin, so when you are exposed wash thoroughly with Dawn after exposure, wear full coverage when handling it, and learn to recognize poison ivy in all its forms, vine, shrub, runners, shiny red-tinged leaves, and bright green new growth. Leaves of three, let it be!

An age old problem when making tinctures is the issue with Plant material remaining above your submerge line at the concentration you were shooting for.

You’re just gonna need to get yourself a pusher downer….😂
