Mental health conversations are important but real impact happens when communities are actually heard, supported, and invested in.
Because mental health isn’t just personal—it’s shaped by where we live, what we’ve experienced, how we’re resourced, and whether systems actually listen.
Over the past year, we’ve been doing the work behind the awareness:
-Listening to communities to understand how stigma and misinformation impact help-seeking
-Supporting violence prevention efforts rooted in trauma-informed care
-Bringing community-led insights into public health strategy
-Partnering across Birmingham to center lived experience—not just statistics
And one thing continues to guide us:
-We don’t call communities “hard to reach.”
-We ask better questions.
-Who hasn’t been heard?
-Who hasn’t been invested in?
-Who hasn’t been prioritized?
Mental health equity takes more than campaigns.
It takes trust. Presence. Consistency.
This month, we’re recommitting to that work—
listening deeply, collecting responsibly, and turning community voice into action.
Because data tells us what is happening.
Community tells us why.
If this resonates, share it. Someone in your network needs this perspective.

We gave it everything—and I’m so grateful.
Thank you to every single person who voted, donated, shared, texted a friend, or checked in along the way during the Entrepreneur of Impact competition. Your support meant more than you know.
While I didn’t move forward to the next round, this experience reminded me just how powerful community really is. To see people show up, every single day, without hesitation… that’s something I’ll never take for granted.
This journey was never just about a title—it was about visibility, impact, and the work we’re building together.
And trust me—we’re just getting started.
Thank you for being part of this with me.

Too often, research is designed about communities, not with them. But communities hold deep knowledge—knowledge that can shape more effective, relevant, and sustainable public health solutions.
Here’s how we honor community wisdom in research:
🔹 Start with listening sessions, not surveys
🔹 Invite community leaders to co-design tools
🔹 Use storytelling as data, not just numbers
🔹 Share findings back with the community—in real language, not jargon
Respecting lived experience isn’t just the right thing to do. It leads to better research—and better outcomes.
Let’s shift the power dynamics in public health research.

We’ve literally been “feet in the streets” lately with all the community events CTS has been attending.
Grateful to have been in the room for the Forge AHEAD Scholars & Community Partners Showcase with Carol Agomo. From the Scholars Development Workshop to the Community & Research Showcase and evening reception, it was a full day connecting with folks across Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi who are all doing important work.
What I always come back to—this work is better when it’s done with community.
If you believe in that kind of impact, I’d appreciate your support 💛

The 3rd Annual Entrepreneurship Spring Showcase was amazing!
Close to 50 student entrepreneurs showed up and showed out, and the room was full of Birmingham folks really pouring into them. The energy was real.
Thank you Patrick Murphy for the invite and putting this program together. Your students truly admire you and you’re making such an impact!
Spaces like this matter. It’s what happens when people are given the opportunity—and the support—to bring their ideas to life.

Quick update—I made it to the Top 10 in the Entrepreneur of Impact competition 🙌🏾
Thank you so much for the continued support. Every vote, every share… it truly means a lot.
This opportunity is bigger than me. It’s about expanding the work we’re doing at Community Tracking Services—making sure community voices are not just heard, but valued and included in real decisions.
I’m also working toward creating data literacy workshops so people can better understand and question the data that impacts their lives.
If you feel led to support, I’d truly appreciate your vote. It takes less than 10 seconds, and you can vote once a day. Link in bio and below-

When we talk about gathering qualitative data, it’s easy to focus on checklists. But for me, the heart of this work is simple: people want to feel respected, heard, and valued.
At Community Tracking Services, I’ve seen how trust grows when we:
• Respect participants’ time — showing up prepared and keeping our word
• Create space for open, honest dialogue — building rapport and listening without judgment
• Communicate with transparency — explaining the process and following up so participants know their voices matter
These practices aren’t just “best practices”—they’re about honoring the communities we serve. And when communities trust the process, they share deeper insights that lead to solutions that truly work.
This is why CTS is committed to data collection that centers people first. Because data isn’t just information—it’s lived experience.
How are you building trust in your own research and engagement work?
Also—quick update: I’ve made it to the Top 10 in the Entrepreneur of Impact competition and I’m pushing toward the Top 5 🙌🏾
