🎙️ Game Behind the Game: The End Game (Season 2 Episode 4)

What does it look like when the game teaches you more than just how to compete?

In this episode, we sit down with Wes Cam, a Huntsville native whose journey began on the basketball court and evolved into something much bigger than the game itself.

From developing his identity through basketball to expressing his voice through music to stepping into leadership as the Executive Director of Regenerate Society.

Wes Cam’s story reflects what it means to grow beyond a single version of yourself.

The discipline and structure from the game became the foundation, but the vision extended far beyond it. Through his work with Regenerate Society, he is focused on creating spaces centered around renewal, creativity, and helping others move beyond the limitations of their environment

As a recording artist, he uses expression as a tool for connection and impact, showing that purpose does not live in one lane.

This conversation goes deeper than sports. It is about identity, evolution, and understanding that the real work begins while the ball is still dribbling..

Every coach has seen it. Every teacher has noticed it. The athlete who locked in all season walks into the off-season and something is different.

Grades slip. Behavior changes. The focus is gone. We’ve been calling it a motivation problem for years. It’s not. It’s a regulation problem.

And this year, through our pilot program at i3 Academy in Birmingham, we didn’t just identify the gap. We built a bridge across it.

Wise words from

At just 24, she’s experienced moments some people spend a lifetime chasing—and that perspective shifts everything. In a world that glorifies “what’s next,” choosing to sit in gratitude is a different kind of discipline. It’s not about slowing down your ambition, it’s about honoring how far you’ve already come. Gratitude grounds you, reminds you, and keeps you from overlooking the very blessings you once prayed for.

A powerful conversation emerged around a question many athletes are afraid to ask out loud what if I do not want to go to the next level in sports. This moment highlighted the importance of creating spaces where identity is not confined to performance but expanded through honest reflection and self awareness.

At Flip the Culture we intentionally meet students where they are, affirming that their value is not tied to a scholarship, contract, or external expectation. This is the work of redefining success on their terms and equipping them with the confidence to own their journey beyond the game.

Staying in the storm can teach you more lessons than being removed prematurely. When we can endure the storms of life and embrace its lessons, we become a stronger version of ourselves.

The hardest part of an injury isn’t always physical.
It’s fighting the thoughts that come with feeling behind, forgotten, or uncertain.

Recovery is more than rehab.
It’s rebuilding confidence, identity, and trust in yourself again.

Being an underdog isn’t easy but their will come a time when what is inside of you will be demanded to be revealed. Some players start getting ready when their number is called… while others, like Kordell, are already ready when their number is called.
