Join Wiregrass Alabama AHEC and the UAB Department of Surgery on Friday, June 12, from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM at Jones Hall at Troy University for the Wiregrass Trauma Team Conference.
This interactive training includes hands-on simulations, trauma-focused education, lunch, conference materials, and 4 hours of CMEs through the American College of Surgeons. Participant cost is $25 for materials.

In honor of AED Awareness Week, we’re proud to spotlight the boots-on-the-ground efforts of Black Belt Alabama AHEC across the Black Belt region. Through AED training sessions at Kinterbish-Brunson, Geiger Town Hall, and Akron, community members gained valuable hands-on experience that can help save lives during cardiac emergencies.
With support from local fire departments and dedicated volunteers, these trainings strengthened emergency preparedness and highlighted the importance of quick action, community collaboration, and access to lifesaving resources throughout rural Alabama.

June 1–7 is CPR & AED Awareness Week, a time to raise awareness about the importance of learning lifesaving skills that can help during cardiac emergencies. Immediate CPR and quick access to an AED can greatly increase a person’s chance of survival before emergency responders arrive.
Alabama AHEC encourages individuals, schools, workplaces, and communities across the state to become CPR certified, learn how to use an AED, and help build safer, healthier communities through emergency preparedness and education.

North Alabama AHEC and East Central Alabama AHEC attended the 2026 NAVIGATE Nonprofit Network Conference in Huntsville this month!
This annual conference brings together nonprofit staff, board members, and volunteers for professional development and collaboration. Sessions covered fundraising, grant writing, board development, budgeting and finance, and strategies to help organizations thrive.
They learned from the keynote speaker, Alison Kling about "Leading with How: From Identity to Impact," which offered practical ways nonprofits can better connect their daily work to their mission and vision.

North Alabama AHEC is partnering with National AHEC Organization National Training Center and Pri-Med Institute to offer the Safe and Effective Pain Care course — a free, 4-hour, REMS-compliant CME/CE training on opioid prescribing and pain management in primary care.
This self-paced virtual course gives you practical tools and updated best practices you can put to work right away. Eligible participants can earn American Medical Association Physician's Recognition Award credits and American Association of Nurse Practitioners contact and pharmacology hours.
