One simple shift can help youth and adults better understand their balance with technology. Ask yourself (and your child), “Why am I using this right now?”
Is it connection? Relaxation? Habit?
Building awareness around the “why” helps create healthier, more intentional tech habits for both youth and adults.

Constant notifications, work messages, and scrolling can leave adults feeling overwhelmed, distracted, and mentally drained. When we’re already stressed, it’s easy to rely on technology more, but it doesn’t always help us feel better.
Taking time to pause and reflect on how technology affects us is a powerful first step.

Today’s youth are navigating a digital world filled with constant comparison, pressure to always be connected, and exposure to content that isn’t always healthy or age-appropriate.
Over time, this can affect confidence, increase stress, and impact mental health. Supporting young people doesn’t mean removing technology, it means helping them build awareness and balance.

Technology is part of everyday life for both youth and adults. It helps us stay connected, learn, and unwind. But it can also impact our mental health in ways we don’t always notice. It’s not just about how much time we spend on screens, it’s about how that time makes us feel. Being more intentional with how and why we use technology can make a big difference for our well-being.

Trusted adults make the difference in how youth experience risk.
When young people feel supported, they are more likely to take positive risks and less likely to engage in harmful behaviors. Connection and guidance help turn challenges into opportunities for growth.

Not all risk is negative. Healthy risk-taking helps youth learn, grow, and build life skills.
This can look like trying out for a team, speaking up, making new friends, or taking on leadership roles. These moments may feel uncomfortable, but they are where growth happens.

Risk-taking isn’t something to eliminate, it’s a key part of how young people grow.
Trying new things, facing challenges, and stepping outside of comfort zones helps youth build confidence, resilience, and independence. The goal isn’t to remove risk, but to make sure youth feel supported as they navigate it.
