Our Hillcrest GSRP students celebrated the last day of school with a special picnic lunch surrounded by some of the people who mean the most to them!

Moms, dads, grandparents, and other special guests joined in the fun as students enjoyed lunch outdoors together. From homemade lunches to fun Happy Meals, there were lots of smiles, laughter, and special memories made. The chilly weather didn’t stop our students from having a wonderful time celebrating an amazing school year together! 🌞🧺

We are so proud of all the growth, learning, and friendships made this year and wish our little learners and their families a fun and safe summer! 🌈✨

𝑃𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑆𝑢𝑚𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑦 - The Early Literacy Coach will provide regional leadership in all areas of PreK-5 literacy, interventions, consultations, program planning, and district implementation of MDE requirements. This role involves embedding coaching practices within a robust Multi-Tiered Systems of Support framework.

MDE rolled into MOISD with the MICIP Roadshow 3.0—complete with the 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑠 crew!

This engaging, in-person professional learning experience supported districts in strengthening their use of the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP), a platform designed to streamline school improvement efforts and enhance student outcomes.

Today’s session focused on integrating continuous improvement practices, analyzing whole-child data, and creating, implementing, and monitoring effective plans.

We’re proud to see such a dedicated group of leaders committed to continuous improvement across our region—all in support of student success!

Our 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐒𝐑𝐏 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 has been selected as a 2026 𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑢𝑖𝑠ℎ𝑒𝑑 𝑇𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝐴𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝐹𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑈𝑛𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑦—a well-deserved recognition of their dedication, collaboration, and impact on early childhood education.

This honor includes a $1,500 equipment award and permanent recognition on the Distinguished Staff Awards plaque in the David Eisler Center. The team will also be recognized at the upcoming Service Awards Ceremony and invited to a future President’s Council luncheon.

Another year down and another successful New Teacher Training Series in the books! 🎉

Our MOISD instructional coaches had the opportunity to work alongside teachers in their first three years in the classroom, supporting them with instructional practices, engagement strategies, and real-world classroom techniques.

Each month, we welcomed educators from local districts for evening sessions focused on bridging the gap between professional learning and practical application. It’s been inspiring to see these teachers grow, collaborate, and build confidence in their craft.

As part of our March is Reading Month celebrations, we had a special visitor at Hillcrest! A parent brought in her service dog to read a story to our three classrooms and share more about the important role service dogs play.

Students loved learning about the responsibilities of a service dog, how they support their handlers, and the training they receive. It was a wonderful opportunity to combine literacy with real-world learning—and of course, spending time with a very special furry friend made it even more memorable!
