We are looking forward to the plans that God has for the ABLAZE Youth Conference we are hosting in April. Our vision is to see kids from near and far come and encounter the true love of God. We will have a worship team, speakers, and many funny skits and activities. This Conference will be held at North Knox High School on April 3-4, 2015. It is for junior high and high school aged kids. Each student will get free breakfast and lunch as well as a FREE T-Shirt. Housing will be available to those driving a long distance. Our vision for this entire weekend is to woo you in with love and mercy, equip you with power, and then send you out with awakening. 🍋 SOMETHING NEW IS SHAKING UP ABLAZE 2026! 🍋

We've got something NEW this year, and we are SO excited to spill the lemonade... errr... tea! 😂

Our local lemonade experts from Shakey Shake-Ups are bringing their famous LEMON SHAKE-UPS to Ablaze! 🍋💛

If you've never snagged one of these delicious drinks from their Shake-Up Truck, you are seriously missing out! And now our Ablaze students are in for a special treat!

We are so incredibly thankful for their generosity and willingness to pour into these students.

See what we did there? Pour? Lemonade? 😂🍋

But seriously, we love seeing our community come together to make this weekend special for these kids. It's the little extras, made possible by people with big hearts, that remind us just how blessed we are!

🔥 Let's take a minute to talk about this band... 🔥

Many of you may not know this, but before there was Forged in the Fire, there was... The Ablaze Band. 💙

And we called them that because, well, they weren't even a baby band yet! 😂 Just a group of friends with a little musical talent, a whole lot of love for Jesus, and a desire to make music happen for a conference full of kids they wanted to minister to.

There was no big plan. No album in the works. No idea what this little group might someday become.

And goodness, look what God has done. 🥹

Over the years, we've watched them grow, discover their gifts, add Forged family members, find their voices, and step into their calling in ways we never could have imagined.

And now? They're finishing up recording an album full of their very own original music. An album called Deep Waters.

And if that title isn't a beautiful reflection of the spiritual growth and depth we've watched develop in these people over the years, I don't know what is.

What started as a few friends making music for a youth conference has become a ministry reaching far beyond Ablaze. But one thing hasn't changed: their hearts for Jesus and their desire to lead others into His presence.

We are so incredibly thankful for each of them, the gifts they share so freely, and the way they continue to pour into the students who helped inspire this whole thing in the first place.

We loved them when they were The Ablaze Band, and we sure do love who they're becoming as Forged in the Fire. 💙🔥

✨ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Kayla Estabrook ✨
💻 The Behind-the-Scenes Tech Wizard

You probably won't see her. You might not even know she's there. But trust us, if Kayla Estabrook wasn't backstage, you'd notice REAL quick! 😂

Kayla is our backstage technology expert, and while the rest of us are watching what's happening on stage, she's behind the scenes with her fingers flying across a keyboard, making sure every video, Scripture, screen, and song lyric appears exactly when it's supposed to.

And then there's Forged in the Fire. Bless her heart. 😂

Kayla has become a certified expert in keeping up with a worship band that occasionally (okay, frequently) decides the plan was merely a suggestion. They change directions, repeat choruses, jump to bridges, and somehow Kayla is STILL right there with the lyrics, keeping up like she knew what they were going to do all along. 🙌

But what makes Kayla so special isn't just what she can do. It's the heart she brings to doing it.

She's quiet, dedicated, hardworking, and perfectly content to serve without anyone knowing her name. She doesn't need a spotlight or a round of applause. She just loves Jesus, loves these students, and faithfully shows up year after year to do her part.

And that's exactly the kind of servant's heart that makes Ablaze possible.

Kayla, we may not always see you back there, but we know you're there, and we are SO thankful for you!

Thank you for every late night, every perfectly timed slide, every last-second adjustment, and every time you've saved our worship team from themselves. 😂💙

You keep everything on the screen so the rest of us can keep our eyes on Jesus. 🔥

✨ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: CJ & Melinda Carie ✨
🙏 Our Prayer Room Prayer Warriors

There is something special about walking into a room and immediately feeling the love of Jesus. That's exactly what CJ and Melinda Carie help create in our Ablaze prayer room. 💙

Their love for each other and, more importantly, their love for their Savior shines through in the way they welcome and care for every student who walks through that door.

Together, they create a warm, peaceful space where students can come just as they are. Whether they need someone to pray over them, someone to pray alongside them, or simply a quiet moment in the presence of the Holy Spirit, CJ and Melinda are there with open hearts and willing hands.

They don't just pray for these students. They help teach them to pray for themselves, their lives, their struggles, and the futures God has prepared for them.

And while so much of Ablaze happens where everyone can see it, some of the most important work of the weekend happens behind the doors of that prayer room.

CJ and Melinda, we truly believe God has placed you exactly where you belong. The spiritual responsibility you so faithfully carry throughout this conference is something we never take lightly.

Thank you for loving these students, covering them in prayer, and making room for the Holy Spirit to move.

What you do may not always be seen by the crowd, but we believe its impact reaches far beyond this one weekend. 💙🔥

✨ VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Lori Buskirk ✨
🎨 The Heart Behind the Beauty

Some people make a difference without ever stepping into the spotlight. They just quietly show up, pour their hearts into what they do, and leave everything a little more beautiful than they found it. 💙

That's our Lori. 🥹

Lori Buskirk is the creative heart behind our Ablaze decorations. She's the one who takes a vision and brings it to life, quietly working her magic behind the scenes, often when no one is even looking.

But as beautiful as the things she creates are, her heart is even more beautiful.

Lori loves these students quietly, but fiercely. She's a prayer warrior who covers them in prayer while her hands are busy creating something special just for them. Every little detail is another way she pours her love into this ministry.

Lori, we see you. We see your kindness, your gentle spirit, your creativity, and the love you put into everything you touch.

You don't just make Ablaze beautiful. You help make it feel like home. 💙

Some people just have a way of making everyone around them feel welcome, valued, and cared for. They show up with a willing heart, a genuine smile, and a gift for making things run a little smoother.

Larisa Moreland is one of those people. 💙

Meet Larisa — our Registration Rockstar and Organizational Extraordinaire! ⭐ 📋

If you've ever attended Ablaze, there's a good chance Larisa's smiling face was one of the first you saw!

She and her wonderful crew handle registration each morning, making sure everyone is checked in, accounted for, and equipped with a name tag and conference shirt.

And as if that weren't enough, Larisa also organizes and coordinates our small groups, helping make sure students and leaders are ready for some of the most meaningful moments of the weekend.

Names? Checked.
Shirts? Distributed.
Small groups? Organized.
Chaos? Somehow under control. 😂

Her organizational skills are a GIFT, but it's the heart behind everything she does that makes her so special.

Larisa serves with the same grace, kindness, and genuine love for others that she brings to every aspect of her life. And we're incredibly grateful she chooses to share those gifts with our Ablaze kids.

Larisa, thank you for every detail you've managed, every student you've welcomed, and every hour you've given to making Ablaze a place where young people feel seen, loved, and valued.

✨ ABLAZE VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT ✨

We're back with another Ablaze Volunteer Spotlight, and this time we're heading straight to the kitchen!

Because feeding a small army of hungry teenagers is no small task. And somehow, year after year, one very special lady makes it look easy. 💙

Meet Susie Mullens — affectionately known to many as "Grandma Susie!" 👩‍🍳 ❤️

Now, if you've ever tried to feed a houseful of teenagers, you know they can put away some FOOD.

Imagine feeding an entire conference full of them.

And then imagine doing it with a smile on your face.

That's Grandma Susie. 💙

She organizes the food donations, coordinates the kitchen, keeps everything running smoothly and on schedule, and makes sure that when it's time to eat, there is PLENTY to go around.

And let us tell you… this woman can COOK! 🙌

But as wonderful as her cooking is, it's her heart that makes her so special.

Susie is one of those people who just loves people well.

She gives selflessly, serves joyfully, and somehow manages to keep a smile on her face even when the kitchen is busy, the clock is ticking, and there are a whole lot of hungry mouths waiting to be fed.

She's been showing up for Ablaze for years, and thankfully for us, Grandma Susie is in it for the long haul! ❤️

Because here's the thing about Ablaze…

We talk a lot about what happens on the stage. The worship. The speakers. The moments when God moves in the hearts of our students.

But there are some pretty incredible people behind the scenes making sure those moments can happen.

And sometimes, ministry looks a whole lot like a warm meal, a full plate, and a smiling face on the other side of the serving line. 💙

Susie, thank you for every meal you've prepared, every donation you've organized, every hour you've spent in that kitchen, and every person you've loved through your service.

You don't just keep our bellies full.

You help make Ablaze feel like family. ❤️

✨ ABLAZE VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: DAVE TAYLOR ✨

We’re continuing our Ablaze Volunteer Spotlights with the man behind approximately 97% of the things the rest of us don’t know how to do. 😂

Meet Dave Taylor — better known around here simply as “Uncle Dave.” 📸 💻

Dave is our resident technology professional, photographer, graphic designer, problem solver, website fixer, video guy and general “Dave, can you make this work?” person.

From the registration site to logos and graphics…
From videos to photographs…
From setup until the very last thing is packed away…

Dave is there.

All weekend long, he’s working behind the scenes to make sure things run smoothly—and somewhere in the middle of doing all of that, he manages to document the moments we’ll want to remember when the weekend is over. 💙

And did we mention that **he travels all the way from Lexington, Kentucky, to do it?**

Every. Single. Year.

So why exactly would someone drive several hours to spend an entire weekend working his tail off for a bunch of teenagers?

Well… more than ten years ago, one of his “favorite nieces” asked him for a little help.

And apparently he never figured out how to quit coming back. 😂

Somewhere along the way, her Uncle Dave became everybody’s Uncle Dave.

What started as helping his niece has turned into more than a decade of showing up, serving wherever he’s needed, capturing thousands of memories, solving problems most of us didn't even know existed, and becoming an absolutely irreplaceable part of Ablaze.

Dave, thank you for the miles you drive, the hours you give, the problems you solve, the memories you capture, and for saying yes all those years ago—and then continuing to say yes every year since.

We’re pretty thankful your favorite niece knew who to call. 😉 💙

Ablaze simply wouldn’t be the same without Uncle Dave.

✨ ABLAZE VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT ✨

As Ablaze gets closer, we want to take a little time to recognize some of the people who have been quietly making this weekend happen year after year.

And we’re starting with a woman who would probably prefer that we absolutely did not. 😂💙

Meet Kathy Julian — the queen of the Ablaze Snack Room. 🍪🍫🧁

If you’ve ever wandered into the snack room during Ablaze and found tables absolutely LOADED with cookies, brownies, candy, treats, and all kinds of goodness… Kathy had something to do with it.

She organizes the donations.
She brings plenty of her own.
She keeps the tables stocked all weekend long.
And the second one thing disappears, somehow something equally wonderful magically appears in its place.

Honestly, we’re not entirely convinced she doesn’t have a secret snack-room portal. 😂

But the treats are only a tiny piece of who Kathy is.

Kathy is always one of the first to volunteer. The first to help. The first to say, “What do you need?” And then she quietly gets to work.

She has been loving our Ablaze kids, serving behind the scenes, and making sure absolutely nobody goes hungry every single year since Ablaze began.

Kathy isn’t someone who wants the spotlight.

Which is exactly why we’re putting her in it for a minute. 💙

Kathy, thank you for every cookie, every donation you’ve organized, every table you’ve filled, every hour you’ve given, and every kid you’ve loved along the way.

Ablaze would not be Ablaze without people like you.

And the snack room DEFINITELY wouldn’t be the snack room without you. 😂🍪
