"Resolution 49 Passes 5-0"

Resolution 49, was unanimously approved by BPS Board on 12/11/19. This Resolution is the 10 Year Plan for BPS that will lift our school facilities from some of the worst in Michigan to a level that will elevate student participation in school activities and attract new families to the area. While still in draft form, the 10 Year Plan was created with input from Coaches, Parent Groups, and Administrators. One of our main goals was to broaden the input from these groups and others.

If you would like to see details on the plans that involve many of the 18 schools in the district, please see the link to the BPS Board Meeting from tonight, (12/11/19).

Now the residents of the community need to do our part and Vote in March. Much more on that later.

This has been a year + in the making, and we are very appreciative of your support, a very committed Board led by Kim Whitman and the leadership of Superintendent Mark Dziatczak.

Quick update on a couple items. Seaholm is getting netting to protect the athletic field from baseball foul balls, and Groves is getting a baseball Warning Track. Two small projects, but notable safety issues. Bigger news: The initial 10 Year Plan was presented to the BPS Board this week, which includes Athletic Facilities. Our preliminary opinion is some we agree with, and some we do not. More to come on all that. We need strong AD's and Facility Management to execute and maintain the 10 Year Plan in the near term. Groves and Seaholm's Athletic Facility (Parent assisted) groups should be involved heavily from here on out.
PS. Did you know the Millage Debt of BPS is less than 1/2 the average compared to the surrounding communities?

The video board additions to the athletic field scoreboards are going in and rumor has it that Seaholm’s will be running for the football game this Friday (10/18) V Groves. Come out and support your team!

Overall progress is slower than we were hoping for but we know updates are planned including the much needed new Natatorium Scoreboards. You’ll soon see banners to cover the backside of the athletic field bleachers as an interim cosmetic improvement.
