Thank you for showing interest in Project PEAK! The purpose of PEAK is to develop and evaluate an online early intervention family education program. It is a 10-session program to help you learn how to manage your young child at-risk for ADHD. The program is designed to target the issues of young children (age 3-5) exhibiting early behavioral symptoms of attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (
ADHD). We are looking for 10 parents/guardians to assist us with the development and evaluation of this program. In February 2015 we will offer both the online program and the face to face program! Eligibility:
We are looking for parents/guardians of children:
• Age 3 to 5
• Have not yet started kindergarten
• Enrolled in a preschool, nursery school, or group daycare setting at least 2 days per week
• Exhibiting behavioral symptoms of ADHD (ADHD diagnosis is not necessary)
Behavioral Symptoms of ADHD:
• Frequent inattention
• Distractibility
• Acting quickly without thinking,
• and/or
• High activity level
***We are also looking for families with a computer within the home that has a reliable internet connection. Activities:
You will be asked to complete all ten of the weekly online family education sessions. The session time will be determined based on caregiver availability and access to a computer/internet connection and the location will be within the caregiver's home. Between sessions, you will be asked to try out some of the skills and strategies you learned that focused on improving your child’s behavior. Because we are developing and refining the intervention, following each session you will be asked to complete a questionnaire about the session content. In addition, it is important that you agree to allow data collectors to visit your home twice each week to observe you using the strategies discussed during the previous session. Finally, you will need to complete assessments administered prior to and after the ten caregiver education sessions.
