I had a dream the other night....
The dream started with me looking at a line-up of different people. The feeling was that each of these individuals represented someone I know, although they each remained faceless. Each individual glowed in a different color. It was as if I saw people by their aura/energy rather than their physical appearance.
For as long as I can remember, I have always felt a person's energy before they even opened their mouth. I have welcomed those with happy joyful energy however, I am put off by those that are sick in spirit. Call it being an Empath or whatever, I call it my internal GPS steering me away from those that will do more harm to my mental wellbeing than good.
Anyway, back to my dream.... I stepped forward and grabbed the hand of someone and felt love, joy, and happiness. I touched someone else and I felt the comfort of knowledge, wisdom, and the love of learning. Another person I touched made me feel like we had a great conversation without ever saying a word. Another when I touched them, and I felt safe in their presence. Each one I touched thus far left me feeling good and enriched by their presence.
But then I touched someone and I felt jealousy, anger and resentment towards me. I quickly moved on to the last person. When I touched them I felt sadness, despair, and depressed. I pulled my hand away and tried to get away from them but I was feeling so exhausted, I collapsed to the ground.
My dream is symbolic of our life. Every interaction we have with others either nourishes us or depletes us. People may lie but their energy doesn't. Trust the feeling you get when you are around others. Those who continually drain you, may need to be removed from your life.
Jim Rohn (one of my favorite motivational speakers) said "We are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with."
Take a good look at your top 5. You can't grow past the average of those 5 individuals. This is the law of averages.
My mentor once said to me "Not everyone can go with you on your journey-- and thats ok."
