🔥 Best of the Midwest Pipe Welding Competition 🔥
Thales Marshall, Evan Weller, and Logan Cornelison represented us at the American Welding Academy Best of the Midwest pipe welding competition. This marked the first TIG pipe welding competition we have attended, and all three students stepped up in a big way.
Each competitor, all first-year students, successfully completed all required welding within the 4-hour time limit. The competition replicated an actual weld test, requiring a 5G position weld on 6” schedule 40 pipe and a 6G position weld on 2” schedule 80 pipe. Students were also responsible for prepping all coupons to their preference and fitting them accordingly.
A huge shoutout to American Welding Academy, their instructors, sponsors, and everyone involved in hosting such a high-level competition.
