Update on my GLP-1 Journey:
Yesterday I made homemade egg bites for breakfast. I had a shake for lunch with 25 grams of protein from my protein meal replacement powder, coconut milk, baby spinach and frozen strawberries. When I blend it together, it doesn't look pleasant because I use my chocolate protein shake. So I put it in a cup where I can't see the color. But, it tastes delicious. I had salmon for dinner.
And, because the weather was so warm (although windy), I went for a walk and saw some spring flowers popping up. Loved it.
One thing I’ve been paying close attention to on this journey is how much protein I’m getting each day… and wow, it matters more than I realized.
Protein plays a huge role in how we feel day-to-day. It helps with:
• feeling full longer
• reducing cravings
• supporting muscle (especially important as we age)
• keeping metabolism working efficiently
One of the reasons people struggle with hunger is they’re simply not getting enough protein, so their body keeps asking for more food.
So how much protein do we actually need?
A simple guideline is:
*About 0.7–1 gram of protein per pound of ideal body weight
For many women, that ends up being somewhere around:
80–120 grams per day (depending on body and goals)
Most people are getting far less than that.
What I’m doing
I’m being intentional about:
• adding protein to every meal
• using a shake when I need something quick
• tracking so I actually know where I am
And I’ve noticed a big difference in how satisfied I feel after eating.
Why this matters with GLP-1 support
When your hunger signals are more balanced, protein becomes even more important because:
It helps your body
* maintain muscle
* burn fat more efficiently
* stay satisfied between meals
My biggest takeaway so far
This isn’t about eating less…
It’s about fueling my body better and I'm feeling better
Do you have any idea how much protein you’re getting in a day? I didn’t until I started tracking… and it surprised me. I've been using My Fitness Pal (put a pic here so you know what they app looks like - it is free). I know there are others, this is just the one I use.
