Flying Over Walls - SF Bay Area B&P

We are a Queer/Trans Prisoner Solidarity and Prison Abolitionist Project in the SF Bay Area

Our vision is for direct solidarity with our community on the inside through letterwriting, political education and direct action to combat the damaging effects of criminalization as they relate to q***r/trans experiences and through a q***r/trans lens. We are interested in looking closely at the ways that marginalized bodies and lifestyles are stigmatized, surveilled and policed as well as how to resist, respond and build resilience.

Bringing a laptop is helpful but not required.

Anastasia is a dedicated abolitionist organizer and leader in Critical Resistance, California Coalition for Women’s Prisoners, Flying Over Walls, Ella Baker Center, and other organizations. She recently sustained a major injury and is in need of support and funds to cover her deductible and other health expenses. Friday 6/26 - We’ll be tabling at the Trans Resource Fair from 3-6pm before the Trans March. Dolores Park, SF!

Saturday 6/27 - Join us at Understory Oakland for our regular letter writing event. Delicious brunch, and a chiller alternative to the park for our tired q***r fam

Volunteer opportunity!! If you have some time available on Sat June 27th, and can come help out for a few hours with us to collect donations at one of the SF Pride Festival gates, pls DM us!! We will be staffing one of the entrances from 10:30am-6:30pm and could use a few more folks throughout the day. As a participating org, staffing one of the entrance gates and collecting donations from folks as they arrive, we will then receive a grant to help with our programs. So your hours will turn directly into funds for Flying Over Walks and Abolition Comix! Shifts are ideally 10:30-2:30 or 2:30-6:30, but any help would be great to make sure we have enough folks. There’s a 20 min training video to watch beforehand and you’ll get a free shirt as well.

Please be aware we often receive letters recounting violence people are experiencing inside - taking breaks and asking for support are encouraged! Thanks to our fabulous volunteers for helping out and we will see you there!
