๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ โœจ Centering Trans Joy in Life and Leadership: a conversation with Honey Mahogany โœจ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ

This week is ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ Trans awareness week โšง๏ธ, and last night Q@Haas hosted an event for trans & non-binary students, and allies to come together and reflect on what brings them joy.

is an activist and politician who was instrumental in setting up The Transgender District in San Francisco, and was the first transgender person to serve on the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC), later becoming its Chair.

This event reminded us that the fight for trans lives is not done. There is still so much work to do, but we found joy in hearing about Honeyโ€™s leadership and being able to provide a trans-normative community event for trans & non-binary students and allies to show their solidarity.

Thank you to all who joined, your support meant a lot โค๏ธ

The final event of Coming Out Week 2022 was ๐Ÿชฉ Drageoke ๐Ÿชฉ

To celebrate the end of an incredible week, we let our hair down and sung our hearts out to bops past and present ๐ŸŽค

Karaoke Tuesdays at the White Horse Bar are a Q@Haas favourite - but on this night we fully took it over โœจ๐ŸŽ โœจ

The evening was hosted by internationally unknown drag queen Kimberley B***s, who brought along her singing dog as a special guest ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ

It was such a blast and we canโ€™t wait for Coming Out Week 2023 to do it all again ๐Ÿ™Œ๐ŸŒˆ

The fourth event on Coming Out Week 2022 was the Deanโ€™s speaker series with Jen Wong, COO of Reddit, chaired by Q@Haas Presidents Via and Jyotsna. Jen shared the story of their impressive career to date and their experience as a q***r leader to an audience of around 100 members of the Haas community ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ thank you Jen! ๐Ÿ™Œ

The next event in Coming Out Week 2022 was a very special edition of the beloved Haas tradition, Story Salon ๐Ÿ“– Three members of Q@Haas shared their personal journeys of coming out. Our speakers did an incredible job, made us laugh and cry in equal measure, and left us bursting with prideโค๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ

The identities of the speakers are always kept secret, and details of the stories are never shared outside of the room to ensure a safe and confidential space. So pictured here are the kudos envelopes that our speakers received after their speech, which are filled with notes of love and appreciation from the audience ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿค—
