Participate in Research to Improve SEPUP Instructional Materials
The SEPUP group at the Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkeley, is recruiting teachers using Issues and Science (3rd edition) to participate in a research study in the fall. The purpose of this research is to learn about implementation and impact to improve instructional materials. Results will be anonymized and reported in aggregate.
This research has two components:
Pre- and post-instruction assessments for the first unit of instruction at the start of the ‘25-’26 school year (assessments are created and scored by SEPUP and made available to each teacher). All assessments will be completed by students on Google Forms.
A survey upon completion of the unit to learn more about teacher experiences with these instructional materials.
Participating teachers will receive a stipend based on the time they devote to administering a pre- and post-instruction assessment and to taking a survey about their experiences. This research has been approved by the University of California’s Institutional Review Board.
If you are interested in participating in the research, please complete this short survey. Please note that we are not asking for a firm commitment, just interest. Please also note that approval from your principal or district is required to participate.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Rachel Fisher, [email protected].
Please feel free to distribute this survey to other teachers using SEPUP instructional materials.
