Hello all, I will have one to two spots open this fall for a part time preschool program.

This will be a very small group of 3-5 year olds (potty trained) and the emphasis will be on interdisciplinary child-led learning immersed in nature and hands-on practical life activities.

In anticipation of our art show next week I wanted to share this article that describes some of the schemas that I get to observe in a group setting. Sometimes it might be harder to recognize with individual children and I take it for granted that other people are noticing as well.

Do you notice any of these patterns in your children’s work? I certainly do and the progressions are fascinating to watch! The scribbles I send home are full of these emerging concepts, and without them we would not have the pictures of people, rainbows, animals, even letter writing that come later 🙂

Why do children's drawings look the way they do? Why do they always progress in the same way? The answer is schemas, the force that drives chidren's play.

The past three years have been such a special time in my life! I am incredibly proud of what we’ve built and feel so lucky to have gotten to know the most amazing children and their families. This journey has challenged me, helped me grow, and brought so much joy.

From the beginning, my goal was to create a program for working parents where children could form secure attachments, be free from screens, spend plenty of time outdoors, work with their hands, and experience the joy of being part of a true community—one that cares for each other, respects and cares for their environment, and navigates conflict with kindness and understanding. It was a labor of love, but I truly feel that we have accomplished that here, and it means the world to me.

On April 18th, I will be closing for maternity leave, and when I reopen, it will be part-time with a revamped program that I can't wait to share with you! I am beyond grateful for this community’s support and hope you’ll stay tuned to see what’s next.

Today, we had the incredible opportunity to explore the forest again! Huge thanks to Kayla and John at the Berea College Forestry Center for guiding us on a beautiful spring flower walk and sharing their knowledge about the life cycles of frogs, salamanders, and dragonflies.

It was a truly special experience, and I know these memories will stay with the young'uns for years to come. Grateful for such a rich and inspiring day in nature! 🍃🐸🌸

This is the latest we’ve ever got our peas in the ground (thanks arctic cold and flu!) but our snow pea tent turned out extra cute this year so I’m sure it’ll be a success regardless
