It’s happening again!
I’ll be teaching Wheel 1 at the University of Arkansas School of Art. We begin to throw on Tuesday after students have made their own clay. This marks the beginning of my second year as Instructor, Technician and Graduate Manager here in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
My approach to teaching is rooted in respect for the body as our main tool, understanding and applying flow theory in the classroom and utilizing Japanese throwing techniques. And so many drill-based exercises before we focus on attaining an object.
I utilize equal parts rigor, discipline, repetition, celebration and training the eye to see form and feeling as we individually and collectively unlock human potential.
Here are some selected thrown works of mine that relate to the course. Soda-fired in 15 cubic down draft soda kiln.
