Graduation season kicks off each year with a celebration of young adults who have completed their time with Transition Co-Op, the school district’s community-based program guiding students in building greater independence. 🎓🙌

Today family members and staff gathered at Hollinshead Barn to cheer on the Transition Class of 2026: Erik Paslay, Ellie Gibbons, Maci Cuthill, Luis Navat. Merino, Isayani Roque, Carson Gump, Micah Bansemer, and Kai Comfort. Well done everyone! 🥳

Serving people ages 18-21 who have completed high school, Transition enables students to achieve personal goals through training and community experiences in the areas of self-advocacy, employment and life skills. Each student strives to be active, contributing members of the community. Their experiences include personal budgeting, communication skills, shopping, cooking, health and fitness, housing, public transportation, recreation, daily planning, social navigation, community service, internships, and college connections.

We also want to thank our educational assistants, teachers, specialists and administrators who support this program, as well as our community partners who help our students explore possibilities in the community. Learn more about the work of our Transition Co-Op: BLS.fyi/transition

Ligaya Wert is one of two Valedictorians being recognized this year! She grew up in Walla Walla before transferring to Caldera her junior year. Ligaya will attend Oregon State University (OSU) to study biology and Spanish.

Congratulations also go to Valedictorian Aerilynn Ruetter who will attend OSU in the fall to study biology. She balanced a rigorous course load while also finding numerous opportunities to engage in the school community and the broader Central Oregon community. At Caldera, she was part of the girls’ soccer, tennis, and alpine ski teams. She was also an active member in the National Honors Society, and performed with the Youth Choir of Central Oregon. Aerilynn is a compassionate and caring student who strives to grow and learn each and every day.

Caldera is proud to recognize Zoë Randolph as a Salutatorian, who will attend Saint Mary’s College of California this fall to study history and law.
