Great day yesterday for kids. Does the school maintain the beds? Trash everywhere before the event. Thanks to those who picked up after the Easter Egg Hunt.

Yesterday evening at about 6:02 PM, a robot call went out to parents at Benbrook MHS. Once again not every parent received the information that was being sent out. This is because the contact information that parents filled out in the beginning of the year that has to be inputted in the school's database was never completed. We have learned that the person that handles this has been transferred to another department within the district. The Benbrook MHS powers that be, and the district as a whole, need to to a better job of communicating important information to parents.

Also while on FOCUS, a parent messaged us that they found a school rating section under school information. Apparently, Benbrook MHS has had unacceptable Gifted and Talented program ratings for the last two years

It was also reported to us that a high ranking FWISD employee, who has a child at Benbrook MHS, and is also a resident of Benbrook, used her position to make sure her neighbor's son was able to transfer to Arlington Heights because the students parents didn't like the athletic program and facilities at Benbrook MHS.

Parents, demand better for our students. Western Hills has the leadership that most every school desires.

Looks like the district's rewarding habitual school absentee students with iPads, laptops, X-Boxes and other electronic equipment wasn't the way to go. Think about it...the district would tell absentee students if they did a better job of showing up to school, they would get an iPad or some other high dollar electronic gadget. While the students who did what you are supposed to do by showing up for classes, were rewarded by a piece of paper at some awards ceremony at the end of the year. It all boils down to one thing...MONEY! The district needs state money and won't get it if the kids are not in attendance.

We are now looking into a claim that Benbrook MHS administrators have on occasion told teachers not to fail students. If this is true, is this an internal decision or is there pressure from the district.

Parent and doctor notes won’t be enough to excuse all student absences in the Fort Worth school district. School officials stress students need to attend at least 90 percent of their classes to pass or move on.

The list of teachers that won't be back at Benbrook MHS for the 2018-2019 school year is growing. Some are huge losses for the students they taught. The teachers that we can confirm are the following according to FWISD records.

Major Dunkleberger (JROTC/Cross Country)
Coach Long (Tennis)
Coah Moore (Softball)
Coach Riley
Coach McDermott
Coach Harrison
Mr. Kirtley (Choir Director)
Ms. Lively
Ms. McKee
Ms. Feehan
Ms. Gallagher

From what parents have told the administrators of this page, every teacher on this list are huge losses for the school. This administrator can personally say that losing Mr. Kirtley (choir director) and Major Dunkleberger are huge losses to the school and will be hard to replace. These two went above and beyond the call of duty.

Parents of Benbrook MHS, you need to take a hard look of what is going on at your school. In the last three years Benbrook has had the highest percentage of teacher/staff departures in the district. This is a new school that shouldn't be having this problem. Why are they leaving?

In the last two years, Norman Robbins, the school FWISD school board member who allegedly represents our Benbrook schools, has received over $20,000 in campaign contributions. From what we have been able to find is that only one contributor lives in our great town of Benbrook. Every other campaign contribution came from individuals that reside in the Paschal and Arlington Heights attendance zones. There were over 20 contributions made from people who reside in the 76109 zip code (PHS) and the 76107 zip code (AHHS). A large portion of these campaign contributions came from people who are in real estate, as is Norman Robbins, his wife and daughter.

There were also campaign contributions from political figures such as Ft. Worth mayor Betsy Price and Tarrant Regional Water District board member Marty Leonard. Also making contributions were individuals who own businesses that do some of the construction in the FWISD.

Mr. Robbins is out of touch with our community. He has nothing to do with the betterment of the schools here in Benbrook. Our theory is that he is on the Board for one reason. To make sure certain schools in certain zip codes have better facilities so that the home values in those zip codes go up in value. Schools are a major factor in the value of a home. When is the last time you saw a "FOR SALE" sign in Benbrook with Norman Robbins listed as the realtor.

The only thing Mr. Robbins has sold in Benbrook is the future of our children. Make him accountable for our children for the next 3 years. Then when the next election comes around, let's put a FOR SALE sign on Mr. Robbins.

It should be noted that Mr. Robbins did join the Benbrook Chamber of Commerce just before the election.

We are hearing about many of the Benbrook MHS staff leaving and going elsewhere. We are trying to get confirmation of who is leaving. Some of the names mentioned are huge losses for the school. Every year teachers and staff will leave schools for various reasons but it seems that Benbrook MHS seems to have a large number of employees leaving. Why is this?

Benbrook community, this should outrage you. Facility needs are needed at Westpark and Benbrook MHS, but yet the FWISD caters to certain schools. If you read the last paragraph it states that "money for the remainder of the project has not been identified." Hmmm...wonder where they got it?

Construction of a new facility is expected to start in October at Paschal High School in southwest Fort Worth. The project combines donation dollars with district money to bring a 37,500-square-foot facility to the campus.

Almost 2 years ago a vote took place during a FWISD School Board meeting. Summer is when the FWISD School Board votes on items that they don't want getting much press or attention. As you can see the vote was unanimous. Our own Board member, NO SHOW Norman Robbins, voted for this. How is it that he can't get things done for the community he represents? Could it be that because he, his wife and daughter are in the real estate market and most of the homes and properties they sell are in the areas that are in the attendance zones of PHS, McLean, Tanglewood, Lilly B. Clayton, AHHS, Monning, Stripling and Ridglea? Ever seen a Norman Robbins "For Sale" sign in Benbrook. You never will because he concentrates on homes in the areas that are in the attendance zones of the schools listed above.

Below is a posy from the Paschal Legacy Project page:

"This is a big day for Paschal. Perseverance pays off. The FWISD just voted to approve moving forward with our new competition gym and field house. Significantly improved facilities are on there way. More details to come soon. We will have additional funds to raise to complete the entire project but this community has shown they can and will come together to support our kids."

Guess they read our post. Very strange how so many parents didn't get the email that was sent out, which also means they have not received mass communicating emails all school year. According to Benbrook MHS parents who didn't receive an email didn't do the following:
1)waiver form for voluntary contact was not signed
2)incorrect email on file
3)no email on file

Here is the other possible reason you did not receive the email. The data clerk never entered the information. There is a simple way to find out. Go to the school and ask to see the paperwork you filled out.

The following email was sent out this morning from the principal at Benbrook MHS.

From: Richard Penland
Date: May 29, 2018 at 9:06:39 AM CDT
To: BENBROOK MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL Recipients
Subject: Concern update
Reply-To: Richard Penland

Social media is circulating a false rumor of a supposed shooter at our school. Please know that this rumor has been fully investigated in conjunction with the Benbrook Police Department. It has been determined that there is currently no threat. However, we will continue to be vigilant. This morning, we have extra security on campus. If you have additional concerns or think you have any additional information, you may call our office or the Benbrook PD.

Have a good day.

R. Penland

Several parents have stated they called the school to speak with administration, but all were unavailable. Why send out an email and then not be available to speak with concerned parents. Administration was concerned enough to have "extra security" on campus but won't take the time to speak with parents. The administration needs to do a better job of keeping parents informed on an even keel.
