Lac du Bois French Language Village From le batik (fabric art with wax and dye) to chanson et danse (songs and dance), villagers at Lac du Bois have an abundance of choices for les activités.

Since 1962, villagers at Lac du Bois have experienced the “grand simulation” of living in another language and participating in cultural activities from a variety of French-speaking countries. Whether just learning bonjour or reciting Baudelaire, villagers progress through skills and vocabulary at their level and pace through a blend of listening, speaking, reading, writing and conversational activities.

Villagers have arrived at Lac du Bois! Yesterday kicked off our official start to the summer season and with that, our campers were able to settle in with their cabin groups and were treated to a multi-course meal where they enjoyed mushroom tart and charcuterie board, beef burgundy with braised carrots, a salad course, and chocolate cake for dessert.

We’re back to it today, learning the language, singing, dancing, forming new friendships, and building memories.
