I DID A THING. TWO THINGS, ACTUALLY. 😂

I just submitted TWO pieces to the WRAP competition at the Beloit Art Center! This is the very first show I have ever entered, because when I was little, I was made to feel that ART just wasn't a thing I should pursue. (Educators don't realize what their words do to a child)

And now…my art gets to hang in an actual Art Gallery! 👀

The Gallery Open House is

✨ 5–7 PM

ALL of the WRAP entries will be on display, so come see what local artists have been creating, find your favorites, and of course…hunt down my two pieces!

I’m honestly pretty excited to have my work hanging in this show! There are some very talented artists, and I do not envy the judge!

Come wander the gallery, look at some cool art, support local artists, and tell me which piece YOU like best!

🦋 MONARCH UPDATE!

Well… our monarch did not emerge yesterday, and it is still tucked inside its chrysalis this morning.

Honestly, I think he or she took one look at this unusually cold, rainy weather and decided:

“Nope. I’m staying right here, all snuggled and warm!” 😂

And really, can we blame it? I would much rather stay in bed on a day like today, too! Wouldn’t you?

So yesterday’s faith-based Homeschool Wonder Lab may not have included a butterfly release, but that gives us an even better lesson:

Transformation does not happen on OUR schedule.

Even when we cannot see anything happening, important changes may still be taking place inside.

Our monarch will emerge when it is ready—and we will be ready to celebrate when it does! Until then, the waiting is part of the wonder. 🦋

Unfinished does not mean forgotten.

Something wonderful is growing in Beloit...
Brainbow STEAM Studio and the Bike Elves of Beloit are working together on a new community initiative:
The Wonder Garden Project.

Bike Elves receives more donated garden bikes than they can use—and instead of letting those bikes sit unnoticed, we started wondering...
What else could they become?

This January through April, we’ll be bringing people from across our community together to transform donated bikes with paint, creativity, plants, and plenty of WONDER.

Then, when spring arrives, the finished bikes will begin popping up throughout Beloit as colorful mini gardens and pieces of community-created public art. 🌸

Each one will be different.
Each one will be created by people in our community.
And each one will have a story to tell.

We’re still building the project, choosing locations, gathering partners, and dreaming up all the little details—but we wanted you to know what’s growing.

Because sometimes all it takes is looking at something ordinary and asking:
“What else could this become?”

🚲 + 🎨 + 🌱 = WONDER.

Tonight we went to support the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce Restaurant Week Awards. What a great evening! We are looking forward to the next one!

Congratulations to all of the nominees & the winners! I know where we will be eating the next few times we are in the city! Thanks for making us feel like family!

What a great start to the 2026-2027 School Year!

This was our faith-based Homeschool Wonder Lab & today we discussed Ecclesiastes 3:1. We talked about how important it is for things to change; to grow - especially us.

Moms, (and dads and other caregivers) can I ask you something?

I’ve seen several local posts lately from moms looking for mom friends, and it has me wondering…

If Brainbow STEAM Studio created a welcoming place where you could bring your young children, make something fun together and actually meet other moms (and other caregivers), would you come?

Not an awkward networking event.
Not a place where everyone arrives with an established friend group, although we do offer private Wonder Play Sessions, if you already have an established friend group.

This is also NOT a class where you’re too busy managing the project to speak to anyone.

I’m imagining relaxed Wonder Play for the children, occasional child-and-caregiver sensory art projects, easy conversation starters and enough breathing room for moms (and other caregivers) to find people they GENUINELY connect with.

Messy buns, shy kids, cold coffee and socially awkward grown-ups would all be welcome. 💗

We’re considering starting something like this in the Janesville area, and also one in Beloit, and we'd love your honest input:
